Loan Closet

The Baumholder Lending Closet is stocked with basic items needed upon arrival or before departure.  Dishes, pots, pans, silverware, toasters, microwaves, irons, and ironing boards are some of the items available on loan. Children's items including booster seats, strollers and playpens are also available.  This important service provided under the Relocation Assistance Program helps mobile military families get settled quickly by providing families with basic household needs.

Linens - It is best to bring your linens (i.e. pillows, curtains, bed sheets, blankets, towels, etc.) in your unaccompanied baggage since the Lending Closet does not have access to laundry facilities and cannot lend linens.  

Baumholder has a community Thrift shop where items and linens can be purchased to supplement those available through the lending closet. 

To borrow items from the Lending Closet, Soldiers, family members and Department of Defense civilians need to visit the Army Community Service Relocation Readiness office during normal business hours, and must bring the following items:

• A copy of your permanent change of station (PCS) orders
• A DoD identification card
• A community Mail Room box number (assigned upon arrival)
• Unit information
• Your contact phone number (unit and commercial)
• A current email address

Items will be issued on a first-come, first serve basis and are subject to availability. Incoming personnel may borrow items for a 60-day period. If household goods have not been received at the end of 60 days, an extension may be granted. Outgoing personnel may borrow items after their household goods have been shipped until the day before they clear housing.
