Loan Closet

The Baumholder Lending Closet is stocked with basic items needed upon arrival or before departure. Dishes, pots, pans, silverware, toasters, microwaves, irons and ironing boards are some of the items available on loan. This important service provided under the Relocation Assistance Program helps mobile military families get settled quickly by providing basic household needs.

Linens: It is best to bring your linens (i.e., pillows, curtains, bed sheets, blankets, towels, etc.) in your unaccompanied baggage since the Lending Closet does not have access to laundry facilities and cannot lend linens.

Baumholder has a community thrift shop where other household items and linens can be purchased. It is conveniently located next to ACS.

To borrow items from the Lending Closet, soldiers, family members and Department of War civilians need to come to Army Community Service, Building 8666 on AAFES Road.  The Lending Closet is open on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 12;30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. It is closed on American legal holidays. To borrow from the Lending Closet, you will need:

• A copy of your permanent change of station orders
• A DOW identification card
• A community mail room box number (assigned upon arrival)
• Unit information
• Your contact phone number (unit and commercial)
• A current email address

Items will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to availability. Incoming personnel may borrow items for a 60-day period. If household goods have not been received at the end of 60 days, an extension may be granted. Outgoing personnel may borrow items after their household goods have been shipped until the day before they clear housing.
