Housing
All active duty military members qualified to receive BAH must meet with the Kirtland Housing Management Office (HMO), prior to engaging in any residential rental/lease agreement in privatized on-base housing or community (off-base) housing. This requirement also applies to home purchase agreements. HMO is included in your Welcome Center in processing appointment.
All unaccompanied members below grade E5 must report to the Dorm Manager at 505-853-5479, DSN 312-263-5479, for housing assistance. For further assistance with your housing needs contact the HMO at 505-846-8217, DSN 312-246-8217.
Child Development Centers
There are two child development centers on Kirtland AFB. Both centers have a waiting list for unborn through 2 years of age. Parents are encouraged to forward a DD 2606, Department Of Defense Child Development Program Request for Care Record, to the Gibson CDC or Maxwell CDC to establish a need for care.
Pets
If you are going to bring pets to Kirtland AFB please check on the Animal Control Requirement. Vicious dogs, including Pit Bulls, American Staffordshire Bull Terriers, English Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Rottweilers (full or mixed breed), wolf hybrids, or any other breed with dominant traits geared toward aggression are banned from base housing at Kirtland AFB. All housing applicants who intend to have a Service Animal or Emotional Support/Therapy Animal reside in housing must declare the animal and provide required documentation to the MHO and the Kirtland Family Housing or to the Rental Partnership Program leasing office prior to referral. Failure to do so may void your application.

The 377th Air Base Wing is the host organization at Kirtland Air Force Base. The wing reports to Air Force Global Strike Command and supports over 100 mission partners. The base and its various mission partners employs about 23,000 active duty, civilians, contractors, Guard and Reserve personnel. Kirtland AFB occupies 51,558 acres.
Firearms registration applies to all residents of Kirtland Family Housing, Fam-Camp, base dormitories, lodging facilities and government owned or operated facilities. Firearms registration is accomplished by completing an AF IMT 1314, Firearms Registration, and a DD FM 2760 Lautenberg Act and delivering those forms to the Law Enforcement Armory. All firearms registered to owners residing in the dormitories are required to be stored in the Law Enforcement Armory immediately upon purchase of the firearm. When entering the installation while transporting firearms, immediately inform gate security personnel.

Kirtland AFB would like to welcome you to New Mexico, the "Land of Enchantment". Kirtland AFB is located in the southeast section of Albuquerque, in Bernalillo County. The base occupies over 51,000 acres and employs about 23,000 people. The sun shines more than 300 days a year in Albuquerque creating weather that is ideal for many outdoor activities.
The Albuquerque International Sunport is located just west of Kirtland Air Force Base and shares runways with the base. The distance from the Sunport passenger terminal to the Kirtland Inn is about 8 miles using the Truman Gate.
Please arrange with your sponsor to assist with transportation if arriving by commercial air. There is no scheduled military transportation to the base. Commercial transportation from the Sunport to the base include rental car, taxi, and bus. Use of Uber and Lyft is discouraged because the driver may not have base access and cannot drive on base to your destination.
