If you need emergency assistance, you can expect to get help from your installation, your branch of service resources. There are programs to support you in a variety of situations, including victim assistance, emergencies en route and service-specific relief societies. The American Red Cross offers a variety of health and safety courses to meet your training needs like Adult CPR, Infant & Child CPR, Standard First Aid, Babysitter Training, and much more. They can help with contacting individuals during emergency situations that need to know where you are and what's happening.

Whenever you travel, it is essential for you to have all of your important documents with you - not packed with your household goods. Important telephone numbers can also be invaluable in case of an emergency while in transit.

Provided below is a list of important documents you may want to hand carry with you. Please bring all that apply:

  • Orders and area clearance or dependent entry approval
  • Valid passport (no-fee and tourist)
  • Military ID card (children 10 years of age and older must have a valid military ID)
  • Social Security card
  • Valid stateside driver's license
  • Pet records
  • Immunization records
  • Birth, marriage and divorce certificates
  • Family Care Plans
  • Exceptional Family Member Program records
  • Tax records
  • Education and/or employment records
  • Power of attorney

In addition to the important documents that you should carry, ensure you have the following on hand prior to your travel:

  • Face masks (two for each traveler)
  • Disinfectant wipes
  • Hand-sanitizer
  • Cash 

The Information, Referral and Relocation Program is your centralized location for information on resources and services throughout Okinawa to help improve mission readiness and quality of life for all personnel and their families. The program also provides relocation services to support personnel and their family members when they arrive and depart from Okinawa. With a total of five facilities conveniently located throughout the island, an Information and Referral Specialist is always ready to assist.
