Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) offers a variety of leisure time activities and programs for Youth and Teens on Okinawa.

Youth services offers a variety of leisure time activities and programs for our youth and teens. Exciting activities are offered on a year-round basis. Programs provide age-appropriate life skills, career opportunities/work force preparation, mentoring, citizenship and leadership, recreation/arts and instructional programs that support the needs of our youth and teens.

Youth Centers

There are three youth/teen centers and all types of sporting and recreational activities offered aboard Camp S.D. Butler. We are always "adding on" to each of our centers to make them more fun.

The centers are open year-round to youth ages 5-17 (18, if enrolled in high school). To become a member, simply sign-up at any Youth & Teen Center.

Youth Sports

The Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) Semper Fit Youth Sports Program is pleased to provide a positive sporting experience for all youths within our Okinawa Community. The MCCS Youth Sports program offers children ages five through eighteen the chance to participate in a variety of sports. Sports include baseball, softball, basketball, cheerleading and soccer. Our philosophy is to provide an enjoyable, fair and safe environment for all participants regardless of their level of ability. The emphasis is on involvement in sports instruction, not competition.

Youth Employment

Employment opportunities for Youth family members are extremely limited on Okinawa. Generally, the kinds of jobs available on base fall into two categories.

• AAFES positions usually focus around AAFES-sponsored activities, to include cashiers or department store clerks, for example.
• Non-appropriated fund positions usually lean more toward Morale, Welfare and Recreation Services-supported jobs, such as recreation assistants, childcare providers, waiters and waitresses, cooks and managers.

MCCS also offers the summer hire program from June through August for family members of Active Duty Military or DoD Civilian personnel, ages 16-17.
