A loan closet is a program that allows service members, families and loved ones to borrow durable equipment or resources especially as they are awaiting their household good. This program varies by service so check out the below information to see what is offered at this installation.
The mission of the ACS Lending Closet is to provide basic housekeeping items for temporary loan to incoming and outgoing families while their household goods are in transit. Loan closet household items available include: dishes, silverware, pots and pans, coffee makers, irons, ironing boards, high chairs, sleeping mats, TV and microwaves.
Items are loaned out for two weeks at a time. Extensions may be possible if the inventory permits. Operating hours are 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday (excluding Federal Holidays).
Fort Hamilton Spouses Foundation operates a Thrift Store, located in Bldg 325. The Thrift Store offers used household appliances, furniture and clothing at extremely affordable rates, which can often be beneficial for families in transition. The Thrift Store is open 12-4 pm, on Tuesday and Thursdays, and the first and third Saturdays of the month. The Thrift Store is closed on Federal holidays, and can be reached at 718-630-4166.
