Legal Assistance

The Grand Forks Air Force Base Legal Office is operated by the 319 Wing Staff Judge Advocate and is responsible for military justice, civil law, operational law, and legal assistance programs. The office provides legal advice to all commanders and staff agencies, active-duty members, their dependents, retirees, and reservists. The Legal Office is located at 460 Steen Blvd, Suite 201 of Building 307, call Security Police for the on-call “JAG” in the case of an emergency at 701-747-5351.

The following services are offered at Grand Forks AFB;

• Power of Attorney and Notary service: Mornings Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
• Power of Attorney and Notary service: Afternoons Monday through, 2 to 4 p.m.
• Legal Assistance appointments: Monday through Thursday, call 701-747-3606
• Wills are by appointment only

Newcomers can file claims on damaged household goods shipped by the government with the online claims service centers, with the carrier, or with the center's claims staff. The online claims service center, carrier, or center’s claims office must receive the DD Form 1840R, which is provided by the carrier, within 70 days of the delivery date.

Claims Services

All household goods claims are now filed online through the Air Force Claims Service Center. Air Force Claims Service Center can be contacted by their website or by phone at DSN 312-986-8044 or 1-877-754-1212. The DD Form 1840/1840R (the "pink form") still needs to be filed within 70 days from date of delivery of your household goods. If you are within two weeks of your 2-year statute of limitations (2 years from the date of delivery or date of incident) please contact the AFCSC at DSN 986-8044 or 1-877-754-1212 for additional guidance.
