Navy Housing has developed HEAT to assist Service Members (SVMs) and their families in obtaining housing information Navywide.  HEAT allows SVMs, DoD sponsored civilians, and their families to get the housing process started online at one or more Navy installations before or after they receive their Permanent Change of Station (PCS) orders.  HEAT is available to any SVM at all Navy installations.

HEAT creates an easy user experience to connect with your destination.  Spouses can use the tool as well, needing only minimal information about their SVM.

PLEASE NOTE that HEAT does not place you on a wait list and cannot improve your position on a housing wait list.  Wait list position is determined by regulations and a verification of your eligibility by Housing personnel.  HEAT does allow you to make earlier contact and complete an advance or active application with the assistance of a Housing counselor.  HEAT is available to any SVM going to a Navy managed installation.

Make sure to visit the Joint Base Charleston Housing Office, 101 N Davis Dr. Bldg 323 or on the Naval Weapons Station at 742 Fletcher St. prior to making any commitment to purchase or rent. They can provide additional information on housing and rentals in the greater Charleston area.

The Air Base is privatized and the housing partner is Hunt Military Communities. We have a total of 559 family housing units online, located in two areas Main Base and Hunley Park. Both housing areas are gated by Security Forces. The Weapons Station has a total of 1,017 family housing units located in four neighborhoods. MenRiv Park contains three neighborhoods: MenRiv A, MenRiv B and MenRiv D and then there is the Eastside neighborhood. MenRiv Park is located in a non-gated section of the Weapons Station. Waiting times for base housing change on a weekly basis. Local community housing is limited. Rentals are moderate to high. The Housing Office can help with local housing options.

Statement 2: “Foster Creek Villas are conveniently located on base near the Commissary and Navy Exchange. There are two 4-bedroom, nine 3-bedroom, and two 2-bedroom townhouses all with living room, dining room and full kitchen available for families. For reservations, call 843-794-2120, DSN 312-794-2120. One 3-unit allows pets. Maximum stay in all units is 30 days, there are no priority categories including if you are on PCS orders and you may make reservations 90 days in advance.

Also on the Weapon Station is the RV park with 21 short-term (30 days maximum) and 39 unlimited stay lots. Pets are allowed. Foster Creek RV park is a modern up to date park with the following amenities: full hook up, Wi-fi Internet, no size restrictions, reasonable rates of $35/night and $660/month, children's playgrounds, and access to the base pool (seasonal).

Reservations can be made up to 90 days in advance.

MWR has numerous housing units available at our Short Stay facility located 25 miles north of the installation. Maximum stay is 30 days and pets are not allowed except in the RV park. There is no PCS priority. Call 843-761-8353, Monday-Friday from 8:00a.m. - 5:00 p.m. for reservations and information. Reservations can be made 90 days in advance for all categories.>

Short Stay includes:

• Villas: twenty-four 2-bedroom, twelve 3-bedroom; two 2-bedroom with handicap access, five 2-bedroom roundettes; one 2-bedroom roundettes with handicap access
• Log Cabins: three 2-bedroom and six one-bedroom units
• Bunkhouse: one that sleeps 16 maximum with full kitchen and living room.
• RV Park has 102 stalls. 14 water sites, 4 handicap water sites, twenty-one 30/50 amp sites, thirty-two-30 amp sites, 16 primitive camp sites, and fifteen- 30 amp monthly sites
