A wide range of programs are available for youth and teens, including youth sports and recreation programs, educational programs and programs that support leadership and career development. Please review the information to learn what programs and services are available at this installation.
For teens and youth, the Keesler AFB Youth Programs offers many programs. Boys & Girls Club, 4H, instructional classes, sports & fitness programs, summer specialty camps for teens and school age care program give youth plenty of opportunities to socialize, learn and grow. Call 228-377-4116.
Military youth often have added stressors to the normal process of reaching adulthood. As service members deploy and relocate every few years, focusing on youth programs is an Air Force priority.
For teens and youth, the Youth Center offers many programs. Children's theater, instructional classes, Boys and Girls Club programs, 4H activities, summer specialty camps for youth & teens and before and after school care activities give youth plenty of opportunities to socialize, learn and grow.
Open Recreation Programs
An open Recreation program is for youth age 9 and older - youths may sign themselves into the program Mon - Fri (3:00 – 7:00pm). Bus service is available for pick up from Biloxi Junior High and High School to bring tweens and teens to Youth Center for a fee. Video games, pool, various table games, table tennis, gym games, books, arts & crafts, cooking experiences, basic sewing and a host of gym activities are available. At least once a month there are Friday or Saturday Recreation programs scheduled.
Teen Focus Programs
Teen involvement opportunities at Keesler include the Keystone leadership club, Congressional Award program, Youth of the year program, space camp, 4-H and BGCA activities. AF Specialty Camp ( Space, Teen Aviation and Teen Leadership), STEAM camp, and Counselor in Training volunteers, just to name a few.
Youth Sports & Fitness
Sports leagues are offered in Flag Football (Oct-Dec), Soccer (Jan- Mar) and Baseball (Apr- Jun) for ages 5-12 yrs. Cost is $30-35 per season. Start Smart sports introduction programs is offered for 3-4 yrs in Soccer and T-ball with a cost of $25. Fitness fun runs and events are held throughout year.
School Age Care
Before and After School Care is offered along with Holiday Camps and Summer Camps for ages Kindergarten through 12 yrs. The cost is determined by family income. The camps offer fantastic recreation and learning opportunities from 4-H projects, field trips, community service projects, gardening, sports and physical fitness. During the school year, Before/After school program for youth ages 6-12 years. The program provides breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks. We also have Mardi Gras, Spring Break, Thanksgiving and Christmas Camps.
