The base legal office is located in the Sablich Center Suite 227. Legal assistance is provided to active-duty military members/families, retirees/dependents, reserve and Air National Guard on Title 10 orders.

Types of Services

Legal assistance is available for most personal, civil legal matters. Documents prepared for clients include:

• Simple wills
• General, special and durable powers of attorney
• Bills of sale
• Promissory notes
• Miscellaneous letters written on behalf of clients

Additionally, the base legal office has notary publics available 8 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m., weekdays, to acknowledge the signing of documents. All services are provided free of charge.

Services Not Provided

The following three areas are outside the scope of legal assistance:

• Advice on criminal matters is only available through the Area Defense Counsel.
• Problems involving specialized areas of law such as trusts, deeds, complicated wills, estate planning and mortgages, etc., will normally be referred to a lawyer of the client's choice or to the local bar association for advice and action.
• Additionally, appearances on behalf of the client in person or by pleading before a court or government agency are outside the scope of the legal assistance program.

Filing Claims

At the time of delivery of household goods, you should receive a copy of your global bill of lading,
DD Form 1840 (pink form) and inventory. All pink forms must be turned into your local base claims office within 70 days after delivery. All damage found during the delivery should be annotated on the front of the pink form. Damage found after delivery should be annotated on the back of the pink form. Note: Please remember to turn your carbons around.
