Legal Assistance

The base legal office is located in the Sablich Center, Suite 227. Legal assistance is provided to active-duty military members, retirees, dependents, and reserve component members on Title 10 orders.

Types of Services

Legal assistance is available for most personal, civil legal matters.

Services for clients include:

• Wills, living wills, and healthcare powers of attorney (by appointment)
• General and special powers of attorney on a walk-in basis (9 a.m. to 4 p.m., weekdays)
• Document review and consultation
• Miscellaneous letters written on behalf of clients

Additionally, the base legal office has notary services available 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on a walk-in basis on weekdays, to acknowledge the signing of documents.

All services are provided free of charge.

Services Not Provided

The following four areas are outside the scope of legal assistance:

• Advice on criminal matters, which is only available through the Area Defense Counsel
• Advice on official matters in which the U.S. government has an interest or is involved in the investigation or final resolution
• Problems involving specialized areas of law such as living (inter vivos) trusts, real estate sale/closing documents and advice on commercial enterprises
• Appearances on behalf of the client in person or by pleading before a court or government agency

Filing Claims

If you would like to file a tort claim for damages or injuries, submit a Standard Form 95 to the legal office at the Air Force installation nearest to where the incident occurred. Household Goods claims must be filed with the carrier or the Air Force Claims Center. Call the base legal office for questions about claims or to file a claim.
