Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society

If emergency financial assistance is required, make an appointment with the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society by calling 703-784-9754. They provide interest-free loans or grants for emergency transportation, funerals, medical or dental bills, food, rent, utilities, essential vehicle repairs and financial counseling.

American Red Cross Hero Care Network

The American Red Cross provides 24/7 emergency communications for service members and their families. It can verify a family emergency and relay the information to the service member’s command for an emergency leave decision. If eligible, the Red Cross can also connect the family with financial assistance through a military aid society for emergency travel, food, shelter and other urgent needs. Assistance may be a loan or grant, as determined by the aid society. Call 877-272-7337 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

If you are near a military installation, contact the Marine and Family Program's' Information, Referral, and Relocation Office. For newly arriving personnel, if there is a situation that needs emergency attention, contact your sponsor for assistance. If your sponsor is not available, contact your future command S-1, admin or personnel officer or officer of the day. You should make every effort to obtain your gaining command's contact information prior to leaving your current command.
