Policies and rules for shipping pets vary at each installation. It’s important to understand the regulations, prohibitions and laws at your new installation before moving with a pet. Below, you’ll find installation-specific details for registering, boarding and transporting your pet.
All pets must be registered with the Pet Registration Section within 10 days of their arrival on base, or after reaching the age of four months. Wild animals or exotic pets are prohibited. Certification of rabies vaccination is required. The registration tag issued must be worn on the animal's collar or affixed to its cage. Call 703-432-7375.

Proof of registration and certification documents must be provided to the Family Housing Branch prior to accessing housing. To register your pet(s) you must have proof of up to date vaccinations and an implanted microchip. For further information call 703-784-2711.
Virginia law requires that all dogs and cats age 4 months and older be licensed and vaccinated against rabies. Licenses can be obtained at veterinary offices and the County Court House.
Pets in this area need vaccinations yearly. Dogs should be tested for heartworms and placed on preventative medication year round. Rabies vaccinations (usually good for one to three years depending on the age of the animal) are required to be kept up to date.
There is no quarantine necessary for Quantico.
There is no entitlement for the transportation of pets at the government's expense. Some spaces are usually available at an additional cost on AMC flights from overseas locations to CONUS.

The Veterinary Treatment Facility is located in Building 3310 on Purvis Road and holds clinics by appointment only. Over-the-counter sales and scheduling an appointment can be made by calling 703-784-2770.

The Quantico Marine Corps Base Veterinary Treatment Facility offers vaccinations, heartworm and feline leukemia vaccine, lab work and limited sick call for the privately owned pets of active-duty service members, reservists on active duty with orders, and retirees.
