Housing options are available to your unique situation including: housing for families, single service members, families that are enrolled in the exceptional family member program, pet owners and unaccompanied personnel. There is a one to three month wait time for E1-E5 three bedroom, E6- E8 is three to six, and nine to 12 months for officers on post housing. To register for on base housing or if you have any questions, you must contact the Military Housing Office at 229-639-5962. See the Government Housing article for more information.
Application
Please send an application for housing (DD1746) and a copy of your orders to the office listed below. You will be placed on the waiting list on your detachment date. Please check the website indicated above for the most current housing information.

Single Service Member Housing
Single service members in grade E-1-E-5 are housed in barracks on board the installation.
ADA Housing
Eight units have been designated as being handicapped accessible. If you or a family member is a member of the Exceptional Family Member Program, the representative at your present command will need to contact the manager of the EFMP at MCLB Albany at 229-639-7497.
Housing Referral Office – Please contact the Housing Referral Office (HRO) at 229-639-5962 for any problems you may encounter such as discrimination complaints, tenant/landlord disputes, or any questions/problems about off-base housing.
The HRO is available to assist you on a person to person basis to make your move to the installation an easy and pleasant one. They can provide a list of rentals with corresponding locator maps and give you information regarding the area in which rentals are located.
The housing market in the greater Albany area is reasonably priced compared to most areas. Albany has a number of realty agencies which can assist with home needs.
Rental Options
When seeking to rent in the local community, please contact the HRO for up-to-date information on average monthly rent and average cost of housing as these data points tend to adjust with supply/demand, inflation, and the economy of the region. Security deposits are often equal to one month's rent.

There is a three to six month average wait time for E1-E5, a three to six month average wait time for E6-E8 and an average 12 month wait time for officers. Base housing imposes a limit of two major pets in government housing. Additional restrictions on certain types of pets are imposed.
