Policies and rules for shipping pets vary at each installation. It’s important to understand the regulations, prohibitions and laws at your new installation before moving with a pet. Below, you’ll find installation-specific details for registering, boarding and transporting your pet.

MCLB Albany does not offer veterinarian services on the installation. Please search for veterinarian services in the local community as there are many excellent options.

There is no quarantine requirement for animals on base. Pets must have all required shots.
A myriad of pet boarding options are available in and around the Albany area. Please check the internet for vetrinarian and boarding facilities in the area or request assistance from the MCLB Albany Information, Referral, and Relocation program specialist at 229-639-6440. Recommend making arrangements for your pet(s) prior to beginning your move.
All animals must be registered with the Provost Marshal's Office when brought aboard MCLB Albany. Pet owners are responsible for maintaining positive control over their pets at all times. No pet will be permitted to run loose or be unattended in any area aboard the installation or housing areas. Occupants are responsible for any damage caused by their pets.
Full or mixed breeds of Pit Bulls, Rottweilers and Canid/Wolf hybrids are prohibited aboard Marine Corps installations. In the absence of formal breed identification (e.g., certification by a civilian organization such as the American Kennel Club) a determination of “majority breed” will be made by a Veterinary Corps Officer or a civilian veterinarian.Certification must be provided to the Liberty Military Housing Office prior to referral of the housing application for placement on the Military Housing waitlist.All dogs and cats must be registered with the local Veterinary Treatment Facility with proof of registration submitted to the Liberty Military Housing Office, prior to entry to family housing units.Proof of registration will consist of civilian or military veterinarian certification of required vaccinations and a functioning microchip identification device. Vaccination and microchip implantation services are procured at the owner’s expense for all cats and dogs, regardless of breed via commercial veterinary medical service providers. Microchips will be International Standard Organization compatible to help facilitate overseas travel.
Once your pet has been inoculated, you must attach the Dougherty County rabies tag and MCLB registration tag to the pet's collar. These tags are given out at the inoculation and will be registered with Pass and ID Section at PMO.
