The 35th Force Support Squadron Child Development Program offers quality care for children of active duty and Department of Defense civilians assigned to Misawa Air Base. The program is accredited with the National Association for the Education of Young Children and annually receives recertification by the Department of Defense. The philosophy of the program is to support the development of the whole child, meaning all areas of the child's development are considered interrelated and equally important. There is respect for each child's unique interests and experiences, abilities and needs.
The Yoiko CDC facility on Misawa AB is located on main base across from the Sollars Elementary School with 19 classrooms in Bldg 10. The center provides full day care for children 6 weeks to 5 years of age. Care for children with developmental or physical challenges is available based on the ability of the program to meet the needs of the child with written guidance from a physician, therapist, or other appropriate health professional. If you have a child with developmental, physical, or other challenges, please bring a copy of your child's Individual Education Plan (IEP) or Individual Family Services Plan (IFSP). Reasonable accommodations will be provided based on the child's IEP or IFSP.

Families may search for and request care, manage their requests, and update their profile online, simplifying the process for finding childcare.
Once you receive a spot, you will need the following to complete the enrollment packet:
Eligibility Requirements
The CDC is open to anyone arriving to Misawa AB on orders. This includes active duty military and DoD civilians.
Fees
Childcare fees are based on the family's total annual income. Please contact the Child Development Center for the categories and price ranges.
Priority Care
Priority for full-time contract care is given to single-parent and dual military families as well as DoD civilians under those same qualifiers.
Waiting List
There is a wait list for childcare. The wait list is dependent upon the age of your child. Infant and toddler childcare is the longest waiting period due to the ratio and space allocated. In order to reduce the waiting time, it is recommended that you get on the inbound wait list prior to arriving to Misawa by following the instructions in the registration section.
Number of Services available:
There is one CDC facility on Misawa AB. Yoiko CDC has 19 classrooms and is located on Main Base in Bldg 10 across from Sollars Elementary School. Phone: 315-226-4666. The center offers full-day care for children ages six weeks to five years.
Members are also eligible for "Parents Night Out". This program is available through the CYP via CYPBMS and you must enroll. The program is available once a month at a low rate of $32.00 for four hours. All families are eligible for this program.
Respite Care
This program is intended for active duty Air Force families who have a family member with special needs. The goal of the program is to provide a "break" for a few hours a week or month to families who have the responsibility of 24 hour a day care for an ill or disabled family member. This person may be a child, spouse, or parent living in the household. The stress of providing care, the burden of medical expenses, plus the high cost of hiring someone to provide care make it difficult but it is not impossible to be able to afford even a few hours away. AFAS assistance for respite care is based on need.
Family Child Care (FCC) approved homes are available. The program provides care for children ages six weeks to 12 years with military and civilian families who live in on-base housing. Call the FCC office at 315-226-CARE (2273).
Hourly or drop-in care
Hourly and drop-in care is based on space availability and is offered by the Child Development Center and Family Child Care providers. In order to access this care you must contact the CDC at 226-4666 or FCC providers to reserve a spot - for a list of FCC providers please call the FCC office at 315-226-2273.
