Deployment Support Services

Misawa Air Base's Military & Family Readiness Center (M&FRC) offers a comprehensive suite of services to support Airmen, civilians, and their families throughout the deployment and remote tour cycle. These services are designed to ease transitions, foster resiliency, and maintain family well-being during times of separation.

Pre-Deployment Phase

Pre-Deployment Workshop
NET 60 Days Prior to Deployment
Mandatory for all Air Force military and civilian personnel with:

• A confirmed deployment tasking of 30 days or more, or
• A TDY assignment of 179 days or longer, including remote tours.

This required workshop provides critical information and skills to help service members and their families successfully navigate all phases of deployment. Topics include:

• What to expect during each stage of deployment
• Emotional cycles of deployment and separation
• Practical and emotional preparation strategies (before/during/after)
• Staying connected with loved ones
• Effective reintegration planning

Spouses are highly encouraged to attend.

During Deployment

Hearts Apart Program
All family members of deployed or remote tour personnel are automatically enrolled in the Hearts Apart program, which offers ongoing support and resources throughout the separation period. Services include:

• Air Force Family Child Care Expanded Child Care (AF FCC ECC): Through the Air Force Assistance Fund (AFAS), eligible service members with a valid GPAB certificate of eligibility may receive up to $40 per dependent child per month, for up to three months.
• Quarterly Family Sustainment Events – Social and support events to promote connection and morale

Reintegration Phase

Reintegration Workshop
Within 7 Days of Return to Home Station
Mandatory for all military and civilian members returning from:

• A deployment tasking of 30 days or more, or
• A TDY assignment of 179 days or longer, including remote tours.

Reintegration is often the most overlooked yet critical phase of the deployment cycle. The Reintegration Workshop helps returning members:

• Understand and manage the transition back to work and home life
• Rebuild family routines and communication
• Access helping agency resources and coping tools

Spouses are strongly encouraged to attend to help support the reintegration process as a family.

Remote Tours

Personnel assigned to a Remote Tour (typically 12 months unaccompanied) are subject to the same deployment support requirements:

• Pre-Deployment Workshop is mandatory prior to departure
• Families are enrolled in the Hearts Apart program
• Reintegration Workshop is mandatory upon return

Support is available throughout the tour to assist both the member and family with adjustment and communication challenges unique to remote assignments.
