Deployment can be a challenging phase of the military lifecycle, but it’s important to know that you don’t have to go through it alone. The military provides a variety of resources and support programs — ranging from educational briefings to morale calls — for your loved ones, children and service members to ease the stress of deployment. Military members may be assigned to a specific installation but support may come from local communities, Yellow Ribbon events or the installation itself.
Pre-deployment
Pre-deployment services include a mandatory Pre-Deployment Workshop that provides information and skills to help deployers (military and civilian) and family members manage a deployment. It covers important aspects of deployment, what to expect, how to prepare before/during/after, emotional cycles of deployment, tips to stay engaged with your partner, and helpful tips for reintegration. This workshop is required for members with a firm deployment tasking of 30+ days or extended TDY assignment of 179+ days. It is highly recommended that spouses attend this workshop.
During Deployment
During a member’s deployment, family members are enrolled into the Hearts Apart program. This program is designed to provide sustainment services and information to family members who remain at Misawa AB throughout the member’s deployment. Services include, but are not limited to:
Reintegration
The Reintegration cycle begins 30 days prior to a deployer returning to home station and is often the most neglected cycle. M&FRC staff can provide assistance with this important transition to help prepare family members for a deployer's return. Additionally, returning deployers are required to attend a mandatory reintegration workshop that is designed to provide tips, coping skills, and helping agency resources to assist the deployer with reintegrating back to work life and personal life. It is highly recommended that spouses attend this workshop.
