Legal assistance is available to you and your family. Below, you’ll find information about claims and installation specific programs and services. If you have questions, reach out to the legal assistance program at your installation.
Legal Services
Limited legal assistance is available, free of charge, at the Naval Air Facility Atsugi legal office.
Types of Services
Services cover personal legal needs in the following general areas:
Powers of attorney and notary services are available every Tuesday and Wednesday from 1:30 to 3 p.m. with no appointment necessary. All services are available to active-duty service members, military retirees, Department of Defense civilians and all family members. You must present two valid forms of photo identification (military, dependent, driver’s license, passport, etc.)
The general office hours for other legal issues are 8:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The legal office is located at NAF Atsugi Headquarters, Building 949 on the third floor. Please contact DSN 315-264-3692 for more information.
Additionally, services are available at the Region Legal Service Office located at Fleet Activities Yokosuka and Camp Zama.
In addition to the NAF Atsugi services, the RLSO office in Yokosuka can cover personal legal needs in the following general areas:
Hours: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday, the first Friday of every month from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Notorary Services Monday through Friday 8:39 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. every

Claims Services
For household claims, we recommend you deliver the DD Form 1840 (notice of loss or damage) to your local personal property office within 70 days of delivery of your household goods or your claim will be reduced or denied. A power of attorney is recommended if a military service member is deployed.
