Relocation Assistance

Your Military and Family Support Center provides relocation assistance to help make PCS moves as smooth as possible. Resources include:

• PCS planning: Most relocation assistance programs offer consultations to help you with the moving process. If this your first military move, your first time moving overseas or you have challenging or complex circumstances contact your installation Relocation Assistance Program as soon as possible for support.
• Plan My Move: An online War Department relocation tool that provides you with customizable checklists and links to helpful resources for the tasks ahead.

• Workshops and briefings: Workshops vary by location. You may find classes on housing options, moving with children, moving with pets and more.
• Predeparture briefings: These sessions provide essential information about your move and may be required for some populations.
• Special needs: If you have a child or family member enrolled in the Exceptional Family Member Program, contact your installation EFMP-Family Support office to assist you.
• Settling-in services: Look for welcome programs or local area tours that may be offered. Overseas services may include introductory language classes and cultural awareness activities.
• Foreign-born spouse support: Assistance includes information and referral to resources such as immigration and naturalization.
• Emergency assistance: Sometimes emergencies occur while moving. The Military and Family Support Center has the resources to provide emergency financial assistance, as well as information and referrals.
• Authorized housing flexibility options: Eligible service members with PCS orders may be entitled to flexibilities such as extended stays in government housing and early housing eligibility. Contact your military personnel office for more information.
• Spouse licensure reimbursement: Your service branch may reimburse spouses up to $1,000 for relicensure and certification costs resulting from relocations or PCS moves. NAF Atsugi Relocation Assistance & Transition Guide

Welcome to Naval Air Facility Atsugi! Below is the refined, structured guide for your Permanent Change of Station transition, formatted for quick reference.

Mandatory Arrival Training: AOB & ICR

The Area Orientation Brief and Inter-Cultural Relations classes are your introduction to life in Japan and NAF Atsugi. Both classes are mandatory to obtain your Status of Forces Agreement driver’s license.

• Schedule: Typically on Mondays at 8 a.m.
• Location: NAF Atsugi Headquarters, Building 949, 1st Floor, Classroom 129

• AOB Attire: Working Uniform of the Day

• Waiver Policy: Personnel PCSing from another installation in Japan within a 1-year timeframe, or Japanese Nationals.

SOFA Licensing & safeTALK Training

On Day 2, your orientation continues with driver's training and suicide awareness training.

• Training Events: SOFA Driver's License Class & safeTALK Suicide Awareness Training 
• Attire: Appropriate civilian attire in accordance with COMNAVFORJAPANINST 1020.3H

• Childcare During Orientation: To ease your transition, free childcare vouchers are provided for the duration of the AOB/ICR classes.
• Eligibility Children aged 6 weeks to 5 years (and after-school care for ages 5 to 10) 
• Booking Reserve a spot at the Child Development Center via the Child Youth Program Website 
• Central Registration 011-81-467-63-3524 Medical Requirement CRITICAL: CDC orientation must be completed prior to using CDC services during AOB.

Hospitality Loan Closet

The FFSC Loan Closet provides temporary basic household goods for up to 30 days (extensions handled case-by-case) to support you during pack-out or while awaiting your household goods delivery.
