Contact information for key programs and services at this installation.
When you arrive at your new installation, you’ll need to follow installation-specific procedures. Each installation and service handles in-processing differently. Here, you can find installation-specific guidelines and a list of documents to bring with you when checking- in. Reach out to the contacts provided if you have specific questions.
If arriving after normal hours, or unsure where to report, newly assigned military members from both Naval Air Station Oceana and Dam Neck Annex should check in at the NAS Oceana Quarterdeck in Building 230 on Tomcat Boulevard. Newly reporting military members will have their orders endorsed here by the junior officer of the deck. The quarterdeck is staffed 24 hours a day and can be reached at 757-433-2366/2367. After endorsing the orders, the JOOD takes the newly reporting sailor's contact information for documentation purposes and ensures the sailor has a barracks room if needed. The sailor is provided the necessary contact information for their parent command and advised to contact them directly for further instruction/guidance.
Personnel Support Detachment NAS Oceana, the servicing PSD for both NAS Oceana and Dam Neck Annex staff members, is in Building 326 on D Avenue at NAS Oceana. Newly reporting personnel are encouraged to speak with their command pay and personnel administrative staff and contact My Navy Career Center at 833-330-6622.
All incoming military personnel must report to their Command Pay/Personnel Administrator within four days of arrival for in-processing. The key to a smooth check-in process is your command's sponsorship program. Don't forget to ask your sponsor about your new command's specific check-in policies. This is especially important if the command is deployed when you are scheduled to arrive at NAS Oceana.
Students assigned to a school at Dam Neck Annex should report directly to Dam Neck Annex and have their orders stamped upon arriving at Training Support Command (TSC) quarterdeck, Building 195, 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday throughFriday. Those arriving on weekends or after duty hours can have their orders stamped at the quarterdeck in Taylor Hall, Building127. The TSC quarterdeck phone number is 757-492-6205. Students report in for the start of classes at 6:30 a.m. Monday in Building 502.
If you are single and require bachelor's quarters, you can call the Combined Bachelor Quarters at 757-433-3978 for assistance.
Keep all important papers with you while traveling. These include PCS orders, marriage certificate, birth certificates, medical records, immunization records (especially if you have school-age children), any unofficial school documents/transcripts to assist in verifying grade level and school subjects of school-age children, household inventory, ID cards and insurance papers. Make sure you have the phone numbers for your sponsor, new command and ombudsman handy in case of emergencies.
Family members traveling separately from the service member should maintain a copy of the service member's Record of Emergency Data/Dependency Application, Page 2 (second page of the service record that lists dependent data), PCS orders and any needed powers of attorney.
Plan ahead! Make advance reservations for temporary lodging, especially during high-peak PCS times, such as summer and holidays (for example, spring break, Thanksgiving and Christmas).
Navy Lodges
Some Navy Lodges now allow pets; however, room availability is very limited, so reservations are required. In the Hampton Roads area, all the Navy Lodges have pet rooms. The requirements to reserve pet rooms are:
The Navy Gateway Inns & Suites may allow pets, so please call 877-NAVY-BED (628-9233) for more information and/or to make reservations. Additionally, in the Hampton Roads area, hotels and motels are available in all price ranges and some allow pets.
Service members are strongly encouraged to ask their detaching or gaining command about Temporary Lodging Expense, which can offset the cost of temporary housing at the losing or gaining duty station. This financial entitlement is obtained at the command and should be applied for before expecting reimbursement for lodging costs. If traveling from Virginia to an overseas installation, ask your gaining command about Temporary Lodging Allowance.
Keep emergency phone numbers ready, such as the American Red Cross at 877-272-7337, roadside assistance and Fleet and Family Support Center Oceana at 757-433-2912.
If you get married before you PCS, you must inform your command and follow the procedures exactly as you are given them. The military will not pay for travel and housing for your spouse if you do not follow proper procedure.
