A loan closet is a program that allows service members, families and loved ones to borrow durable equipment or resources especially as they are awaiting their household good. This program varies by service so check out the below information to see what is offered at this installation.
The Fleet and Family Center at Naval Air Station Oceana no longer provides Lending Locker items to relocating personnel on permanent change of station orders while waiting for their household goods to arrive. Service members must have the following to borrow items:
A contract is completed identifying what items have been borrowed. Conditions of the contract are explained then signed and dated by the service member or their family member.
Items are loaned out for a two-week period and can be extended two weeks at a time for up to six weeks. To extend your contract, you must either call the base chapel. If extensions are needed beyond six weeks, the contract will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
For emergency use, service members must present an ID card and local address.

Naval Air Station Oceana Fleet and Family Support Center Thrift Shop – The shop can be reached via phone at 757-433-2193 and is located in Building 531 on East Avenue. Open Monday, Thursday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Wednesday 7 to 9:00 p.m. On Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays the shop is closed.
There are numerous thrift stores and second-hand stores throughout the Hampton Roads area where you can often find a bargain on clothing and/or household goods.
