Programs and services are available at most installations for children up to age 12. Care may be provided in Child Development Centers, School Age Care Programs, and Family Child Care Homes. Please review the information to find out what programs and services are available at this installation. Please contact the Child and Youth Program point of contact at this installation if you require information, assistance or resources for child care in your local community.
Child and Youth Programs provide Child Development and recreational services for children 6 weeks to 18 years of age.
The Child Development Center provides full and part day care for children 6 weeks to Pre-K. Call 757-433-3164 for more information.

The NAS Oceana Child Development Center has a full-time child care program for children 6 weeks through five years of age, including a Preschool and Pre Kindergarten program. The CDC is certified by the Department of Defense and is regulated by the Navy as well as accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The waiting time for enrollment depends on the age of the child. You can reach the CDC at 757-433-3164.
Hours of Operation: The CDC is open Monday through Friday 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Closed Saturday, Sunday and Holidays.
Costs: Child care fees for the CDC, SAC and Subsidized CDH are based on the total family income. The TFI is defined as ( all earned income including wages, salaries, tips, long-term disability benefits, voluntary salary deferrals, housing allowances and child support). A 20% discount is offered for the eldest child when two or more children are enrolled for care.

Other Military Child Care Options:
Child Development Homes in military housing are regulated and monitored by the military. Residents of military housing who want to do child care in their own homes on a regular or full-time basis must pass a criminal background check; have fire, safety, and health inspections; complete mandatory training; and be monitored regularly. Military Child Care in Your Neighborhood (MCCYN) is a fee assistance program for eligible families who cannot access military-operated child care due to distance or waitlists. With fee assistance, a portion of your child care costs is paid to offset the costs of community-based care.
Drop-in Care: The NAS Oceana Child Development Center offers drop-in care for children six weeks to five years old (child may not have started kindergarten) on a first-come first, serve basis. The center is accepting reservations 30 days in advance. Hours for drop-in care are 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. This service is not intended to replace full-time care and has restrictions on the hours provided per child per week.
