A wide range of programs are available for youth and teens, including youth sports and recreation programs, educational programs and programs that support leadership and career development. Please review the information to learn what programs and services are available at this installation.
Take advantage of the many activities and programs available through the Morale Welfare and Recreation Youth Programs at the Youth Activities Center. MWR's Youth Programs provide a wide range of recreational, social and educational activities for children from 5 years old to age 18. Programs include before and after school care, special theme events and field trips to area attractions. There is also a Summer Day Camp for children entering first grade through age 13. Teens' Summer Day Camp is for the ages 13-18 years old for 5 weeks, starting in July with field trips, crafts, robotics and other activities. The Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department at Dahlgren has an active, ongoing program that keeps the military children busy and involved. The Youth Activity Center (YAC) at NSASP Dahlgren has billiards, ping-pong, board games and more. The center offers programs such as dances, pool parties, and paintball tournaments. Teen Programs are recreational programs that provide quality “out-of-school” activities for pre-teens and teens. The programs provide important social/emotional growth opportunities that focus on character development, leadership skills, communication and self-esteem.The mission of the Navy's Youth Sponsorship program is to alleviate educational disruptions by empowering all youngsters through a stream of continuous support. The program provides stability, academic learning, a connection between school and peers, and support to produce competent citizens. It identifies and reaches out to incoming/outgoing youth to help them adjust to their new surroundings.

Dahlgren Aquatics Center is open year-round includes a full-size indoor swimming pool and a separate training pool. MWR offers swimming lessons for all ages. The Aquatic Center hosts local swim meets and has an active swim team club for youth. Open swim is available Monday through Friday from 1100-1300 and 1500 -1800 and Saturdays 1200-1500. During the warm weather months an outdoor children's water play area is open and the hours of operation are extended. For more information call 540-653-8088.
King George Parks and Recreation offers a range of activities for children and teens including a Before and After School Program. King George County Sports program includes: Soccer, Basketball, Football, Flag Football and Volleyball. Note: the youth baseball and softball programs are sponsored by King George Little League and several independent teams. Youth football (flag and tackle) is coordinated by the King George Youth Athletic Association. For more information call 540-775-4386.
