Temporary Housing

Temporary quarters are extremely limited but available at the combined bachelor quarters. Reservations are required. Additional information on base housing can be obtained by calling the Housing Welcome Center at 540-653-8505/8506. Pets are not allowed in temporary quarters and there are no full-service kennels available on base. For a listing of area kennels, call the Fleet and Family Support Center at 540-653-1839.

Maximum Length of Stay

Incoming personnel on permanent change of station orders can stay up to 30 days, while families detaching from Dahlgren are authorized to stay 14 days. 

Service members are strongly encouraged to ask their detaching or gaining command about Temporary Lodging Expense or Temporary Lodging Allowance, which can off-set the cost of temporary housing at the losing or gaining duty station. This financial entitlement is obtained at the command and should be applied for before expecting reimbursement for lodging costs.

Navy Gateway Inns & Suites Dahlgren is military billeting comprised of four lodging facilities with accommodations for 94 transient officers, enlisted and authorized civilian guests. Also available is a distinguished visiting suite in Building 909.

The front desk is located at Building 960. It operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Amenities include wireless internet access, cable TV including HBO, DVD player, cordless phone, clock radio, Keurig coffee maker, hair dryer, fan, iron and ironing board, microwave and refrigerator. Some suites are equipped with small kitchenettes for an extended stay. Laundry facilities are available in all buildings. Some buildings provide a pool room and TV lounge.
