Deployment can be a challenging phase of the military lifecycle, but it’s important to know that you don’t have to go through it alone. The military provides a variety of resources and support programs — ranging from educational briefings to morale calls — for your loved ones, children and service members to ease the stress of deployment. Military members may be assigned to a specific installation but support may come from local communities, Yellow Ribbon events or the installation itself.
Over the past several years, U.S. Navy deployments have changed significantly. In response to world events, including war and terrorism, Navy deployments may be longer, more frequent and involve being in harm’s way. Service members and their families face greater challenges as they prepare for deployment, manage separations, reunite and reintegrate with their families.
Successful deployments do not just happen. They require planning on the part of the sailor, the family as well as the command. Experience and knowledge of the deployment process has made it possible for the Dahlgren Fleet and Family Support Center to offer informational programs and support services for military members, civilian personnel and their families. If you are deploying on a ship, with your command or as an individual, the FFSC can provide assistance in the three stages of deployment:

Classes are also offered in-person and online on the Learning Management Systems (LMS).
