Children with Special Needs
Special needs are defined as conditions that require special services beyond those usually necessary to promote a child's growth and development. Included are speech impairments, developmental delays, physical handicaps, and medical conditions (including chronic health conditions such as allergies and asthma). The Osan Child Development Center (CDC), School Age Program (SAP), and Youth Programs (YP) accept children with special needs when the program can provide reasonable accommodation to support the child. Prior to being accepted into the program, concurrence of a special needs panel is required. The panel will make recommendations to the program staff to allow maximum participation and provide a quality experience. If the recommendation is for inclusion into the program, a reasonable period of time will be determined to allow for possible staffing adjustments and training to meet the child's needs.
