Health care services provided by the Defense Department are available to you and your family at your installation. We know that finding the right health care is important, especially in special circumstances such as emergency or during recent move. Here, you’ll find information and options about the services you have regarding healthcare.
There are no medical services at Surface Combat Systems Center Wallops Island. Military personnel are under TRICARE Remote.
When you move, TRICARE moves with you. No matter where you go in the world, TRICARE is there before, during and when you get to your next duty station.

Filling prescriptions while traveling

Getting dental care while traveling depends on your location and whether you are a service member or family member.
Medical Care
There is no medical or dental care available at the Surface Combat Systems Center at Wallops Island, Virginia. Our servicing Military Treatment Facility is the Naval Health Clinic located at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. (a drive of about three hours).
All personnel will be enrolled in TRICARE Prime Remote and will be required to choose a civilian primary care manager. Your PCM will provide and manage the majority of your health care needs while assigned to Wallops Island.
While enrolled in TPR you will also use local civilian dentists under the TRICARE Care Active-Duty Dental Program for all required dental care.
