The 72nd Medical Group Clinic; located at 7050 S Air Depot, in Building 1094; provides a wide array of outpatient services and houses the 507th Medical Reserve Squadron, Navy medical personnel assigned to Strategic Communications Wing One and the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs Pre-Discharge Disability Claims office.

When you move, TRICARE moves with you. No matter where you go in the world, TRICARE is there before, during and when you get to your next duty station.

There are steps you need to take to make sure changes to your TRICARE coverage go smoothly. Understand that when you move, you may have to use a different TRICARE option. Visit TRICARE Moving to learn more.

Before you move, you should take care of any routine medical needs, including immunizations, and fill your prescriptions so you have enough while traveling. If you need care during your move, visit TRICARE Getting Care When Traveling to learn what to do.

Filling prescriptions while traveling

You should refill prescriptions before traveling. But if you run out of a prescription drug while traveling, visit TRICARE Filling Prescriptions When Traveling.

Getting dental care while traveling

Getting dental care while traveling depends on your location and whether you are a service member or family member.

• If you are an active-duty service member within the United States or in U.S. territories, and near a military installation, you may be able to get emergency dental care at the dental treatment facility, or DTF, if available. If not, contact the TRICARE Active Duty Dental Care Program before you see a dentist and tell the contractor about your move. You will need to get an authorization before you see a dentist. The Active Duty Dental Care Program will work with you, so you can get care from a local network dentist.
• If you are an active-duty service member at an overseas location, call the TRICARE overseas regional call center to get authorization before you see a civilian dentist.
• If you are an active-duty family member within the United States, in U.S. territories or at an overseas location, you can find out if any nearby military dental treatment facility treats active-duty family members. If you're enrolled in the TRICARE dental program, call the TRICARE dental program contractor or visit their website to find a provider. You will need to get an authorization before you see the dentist.

With permanent change of station orders, ask for a copy of your medical and dental records from your military treatment facility and the dental treatment facility. Do this at least one month before your PCS date. The MTF should also transfer a copy of your record and any family records to your new duty station or you may be able to hand carry them to your new duty station.

If you want someone else to be able to get medical or dental information on you or your family while you are moving, you need to complete a DD Form 2870, "Authorization for Disclosure of Medical or Dental Information."

Medical Care

The 72nd Medical Group, located at 7050 S Air Depot Boulevard, Building 1094, provides outpatient care services. The clinic hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Drive-Thru 1600-1700 (4pm-5pm). The entire 72 MDG (including Pharmacy Drive-Thru and the Appointment Line) is closed EVERY 1st and 3rd WEDNESDAY at 11:00 am to 4:00pm for training.

Beneficiary appointment priority is:

• Active duty
• Active-duty family members enrolled in TRICARE Prime
• Retirees and their family members enrolled in TRICARE Prime
• Active-duty family members not enrolled in TRICARE Prime
• All other eligible beneficiaries

Because the 72nd Medical Group has significant capacity, all new TRICARE Prime applicants and enrollment portability transfers who reside within 30 minutes from the base are enrolled to the 72nd Medical Group.  For the same reason, all current TRICARE Prime enrollees assigned to Tinker Air Force Base may not change to a civilian primary care manager unless written approval is received from the 72nd Medical Group Commander.  The Humana Military Call Center enrolls all active-duty personnel upon arrival to Tinker AFB to the 72nd Medical Group.

TRICARE Prime and TRICARE Select are both enrollment plans so you must choose a TRICARE plan for your family within 90-days of a qualifying event (i.e. moving, marriage, newborn, divorce, etc.).   If you are coming from the TRICARE East region, and your family was enrolled in TRICARE Prime and want to continue their Prime enrollment to Tinker AFB, call the Humana Military Call Center 800-444-5445 or visit https://milconnect.dmdc.osd.mil/milconnect to transfer your family's TRICARE Prime. If you are coming from the TRICARE West region or TRICARE Overseas you will need to contact the Humana Military Call Center to request an enrollment portability transfer The majority of appointments at the 72nd Medical Group are reserved for TRICARE Prime enrollees.  Any remaining appointments are open to non-TRICARE Prime enrollees. However, the appointments are made daily on a space-available basis only.

You must present your military identification card and keep your Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System enrollment current in order to receive medical service including treatment, records, prescriptions and more. It is the sponsor's responsibility to complete DEERS enrollment on family members. DEERS enrollment can be accomplished at your present base or on Tinker AFB at the Military Personnel Flight Air Force personnel or the Navy Personnel Service Department Navy personnel.

Nearest Emergency Room

There is no hospital Emergency Room on Tinker AFB. The nearest emergency room to Tinker AFB is at Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City – South, 5200 E. Interstate 240 Service Road, Oklahoma City OK 73135 which is approximately 2.5 miles south of the 24-hour Gott Gate and SSM Health St. Anthony Hospital – Midwest located at 2825 Parklawn Dr. Midwest City, OK 73110 which is approximately 4.25 miles north of the 24-hour Eaker Gate. If you dial 911 from a cell phone on Tinker AFB, you must tell the 911 operator you need assistance on base, the 911 operator will direct your call to the Tinker AFB 911 operator. If you call from a Tinker AFB land line, you will be connected to the Tinker AFB 911 operator directly.

Dental Care

The Tinker AFB Dental Clinic serves the active-duty population. Eligible family members are referred off base. There are many dentists who accept TRICARE Family Member Dental Plan. The Tinker AFB Dental Clinic is open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is closed for training every 1st and 3rd Wednesday from 1100 am -4 pm. The Tinker AFB dental appointment line is 405-734-2778.
