Policies and rules for shipping pets vary at each installation. It’s important to understand the regulations, prohibitions and laws at your new installation before moving with a pet. Below, you’ll find installation-specific details for registering, boarding and transporting your pet.
Vaccinations, licensing and registration vary by county or town within the state of Oklahoma. Check with local veterinarians, law enforcement, health department or animal control for local regulations where the animal will reside. If you have any questions contact the Tinker Veterinarian Office at 405-734-5780.
Requirements vary by carrier and location within the aircraft where the animal will travel. Hard-sided kennels approved by the International Air Transport Association or U.S. Department of Agriculture are the only accepted kennels for animal traveling in the cargo hold. Contact the airlines you will be traveling on in advance for specific requirements. Please contact your local Traffic Management Office on what is required to ship you pet in conjunction with a PCS move.
There is no quarantine for pets arriving in Oklahoma at this time, but the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture has the authority to impose quarantine if deemed necessary.
There are no boarding facilities on Tinker AFB. It is advisable to carry a copy of your pets medical and immunization records with you while traveling. All kennels will require that your pet shots are current. Bordetella vaccination (for kennel cough) may be required every six months or every year depending on the kennel.
