Health care services provided by the Defense Department are available to you and your family at your installation. We know that finding the right health care is important, especially in special circumstances such as emergency or during recent move. Here, you’ll find information and options about the services you have regarding healthcare.
The Academy Clinic is a modern, well-staffed facility. The professional medical staff provides care in all major medical specialties. The clinic also operates a satellite office in Fairchild Hall to provide medical care for cadets, faculty, and staff members assigned to the cadet area.
For appointments, please call 719-524-CARE, 719-524-2273, or 719-526-CARE, 719-526-2273. There are no emergency room or urgent care services available on base. Patients will be referred to off-base hospitals or Evans Army Hospital at Fort Carson. Please call the information line for those guidelines at 719-333-5111.
When you move, TRICARE moves with you. No matter where you go in the world, TRICARE is there before, during and when you get to your next duty station.

Before you move, you should take care of any routine medical needs, including immunizations, and fill your prescriptions so you have enough while traveling. If you need care during your move, visit TRICARE Getting Care When Traveling to learn what to do.
Filling prescriptions while traveling
You should refill prescriptions before traveling. But if you run out of a prescription drug while traveling, visit TRICARE Filling Prescriptions When Traveling.
Getting dental care while traveling
Getting dental care while traveling depends on your location and whether you are a service member or family member.
With permanent change of station orders, ask for a copy of your medical and dental records from your military treatment facility and the dental treatment facility. Do this at least one month before your PCS date. The MTF should also transfer a copy of your record and any family records to your new duty station or you may be able to hand carry them to your new duty station.
If you want someone else to be able to get medical or dental information on you or your family while you are moving, you need to complete a DD Form 2870, "Authorization for Disclosure of Medical or Dental Information."

Installation Medical Treatment Facility
The professional staff of the Air Force Academy Medical Treatment Facility provide care in all major medical specialties. They offer the latest technologies including CT, MRI, ultrasound, laparoscopic and arthroscopic surgery. There is also a clinic in Fairchild Hall to provide medical care for faculty and staff members assigned to the cadet area.
The 10th Medical Group is an outpatient medical facility, which provides quality patient care to the patient population of the Air Force Academy. Patients who require specialized care in surgical or orthopedic services may be referred to other military facilities or civilian specialists. Clinic hours are 7:30 a.m. until 4 pm Monday through Friday.
Emergency Care
There is no emergency room at the 10th Medical Group. There is only one MTF in the Colorado Springs area that offers emergency services: Fort Carson. This installation is located on the southwest side of Colorado Springs. In addition, the Colorado Springs community has highly skilled medical professionals and facilities available.
Ambulance service at the Air Force Academy is provided by a civilian ambulance service. You should only call an ambulance when there is an emergency and transport is needed. From inside base housing, or on commercial phones, call 911 in an emergency. From official base phones, call 9-911.
Health Promotion Center
The health promotion center, in coordination with 10th Medical Group health management department, hosts a variety of classes such as healthy heart, pre-diabetes and diabetes. Additionally, they offer individual diet and nutrition counseling as well as information on safe activity and exercise. The health promotion center is located in Building 8137. Pharmacy
The main pharmacy is located in building 4102 and offers medication ordered by military physician prescription orders and civilian physicians from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. To speak to the pharmacy, please call all 719-333-5157 or DSN 312-333-5157.
The community center pharmacy is located in Building 5136 and offers medication ordered by military and civilian physician prescription orders from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. For assistance, please call 719-333-9801 or DSN 312-333-9801.
Dental Care
There are two dental facilities on the Air Force Academy. The Academy Dental Clinic, located in the Fairchild Hall Annex within the Cadet Area, provides dental care to active-duty members, cadets and preparatory school students. Dental care is also provided on a very limited, space-available basis for retirees and dependents of active-duty members and retirees. There is a dentist on call for after-hours emergencies.
The oral surgery clinic, located in the Air Force Academy MTF, provides oral and maxillofacial surgical services to active-duty personnel, cadets and preparatory school students.
