Installation-Specific Information
We no longer mail sponsor packages. Virtual sponsor packages are emailed to the CSS/Unit Monitor who, in turn, sends them to the sponsor for inclusion of their personal letter, commander's letter and any other information your commander deems appropriate. At Academy Newcomer Information you can receive pertinent information as well. Prior to your arrival, your sponsor is your most important support system at the Air Force Academy. You may request a sponsor through your local Military Personnel Flight (MPF) or CSS. Your request will be forwarded to your Academy sponsor. Your sponsor can meet you when you arrive, direct you to the appropriate check-in point, give you a "windshield tour" of the Academy and even set up a post office box for you. If you are bringing your family, your sponsor can also assist with making lodging arrangements. If you are single and E-4 with less than three years in service, fax your sponsor a copy of your orders to arrange a dorm room for you in advance.
You will be scheduled for the mandatory Newcomers Orientation when you in-process with your unit CSS. Commanders are notified of no-shows. Newcomers Orientations are usually held the third or fouth Tuesday of each month at the Falcon Club. Spouses are welcome and encouraged to attend. Flyers with information concerning Information Fair are available on the U.S. Air Force Support website.
