College/Technical Training Overview

If you’ve ever considered taking your education a step further, you should look to your installation for more information and assistance. They can help you decide if receiving an advanced degree is right for you, tell you which local colleges and classes are offered and find out if you’re eligible for tuition assistance. The Voluntary Education Center, or Installation Education Center, is available to help you put together a plan to advance your education.

Military spouses can also choose to engage with an education and career coach through the DoD’s Spouse Education and Career Opportunities program, or SECO.  These coaches can assist them in exploring multiple tools, resources and information to reach their educational goals.  To contact a career coach call 800-342-9647 or visit https://myseco.militaryonesource.mil.

Two universities have representation at SHAPE and can service the Brussels American community. Search the web for each college's web site.

  • The University of Maryland in Europe. "UMUC" is a consortium consisting of the University of Maryland and other Maryland institutions) grants associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees in a wide variety of subjects. Classes are offered both in a traditional classroom setting and online.
  • The Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) supports BENELUX as well. It offers the whole array of degrees such as associates, bachelors and master programs ...
  • Representation for both is located at the SHAPE location.

For additional information, call or visit the USAG Benelux - Brussels Education Center in building 4, however, Brussels Education office does not have a regular staffing at the moment. The Brussels Community is directly supported by the SHAPE Education Center. Contact the Benelux - Education Center, SHAPE, DSN 597-7426. Civ: +32-65-75-7426. They're open Mon-Thur 0830-1630. Closed on Fridays and Federal Holidays.
