Loan Closet Overview

A loan closet is a program that allows service members, families and loved ones to borrow durable equipment or resources especially as they are awaiting their household good.  This  program varies by service so check out the below information to see what is offered at this installation.

The Lending Closet is a service provided by Army Community Service to help soldiers and their families in the transition process (inbound or outbound) by providing them with household essentials.

It is open five days a week; hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. (Closed on Thursday afternoon).

The main purpose of the Lending Closet is to satisfy the immediate needs of the family. The priority use of baby items goes to families in transition. Other members of the community may also use the items, based on availability (family visit, friends, newborn) and must return the items, if they are needed.

Welcome Baskets

Kits are available for two, four and six people, including essential kitchen supplies (dishes, pots and pans, silverware, glasses, kitchen and cooking utensils, etc.)

Baby Items (very limited):

Contact ACS ahead of time to check our availabilities.

Electrical Equipment:

  • Toasters
  • Coffeemakers
  • Microwaves
  • Irons and small and large ironing boards
  • Kettles
  • Vacuum cleaners
  • Global Positioning Systems to help you navigate through Brussels during the first few weeks
  • Kitchen utensils, cookware and etc.

***Linens and blankets are not available.***

Upon arrival, make sure to visit the USAG Benelux-Brussels consignment shop where linens, housewares, clothing, transformers, small 220-volt appliances, some baby items, accessories and more are sold. The USAG Benelux-Brussels consignment shop is located in Building 2. Check the hours of operation prior to your visit. Call commercial 0011-32-22-80-9935 or DSN 597-9935.

The Army Community Service’s Loan Closet is located at U.S. Army Garrison Benelux-Brussels in Building 4. Call commercial 02-280-9935 or DSN 597-9935.

Terms and Conditions

Equipment can be checked out for up to 60 days. Extensions are upon request and according to availability.

Returns

Items must be returned clean and in good working condition. If items are missing or broken, they must be replaced with a similar or like item.

Memos are sent if items are overdue.
