As a gateway to the resources you need, the Military and Family Support Center provides information, support and services to help you balance the demands of military life. The Military and Family Support Center is one part of the overall Family Readiness System, which is the network of agencies, programs, services, partnerships and individuals that supports your personal and family life readiness, mobilization and deployment readiness, and mobility and economic readiness. It should be one of your first stops once you arrive at a new installation. The programs and services are a key resource for you and your family. They include:
Military and Family Support Centers are part of the network of agencies, programs, services and partnerships which supports the overall well-being of military families. Military and Family Support Centers provide information, education and support programs to help balance the demands of military life. The Military and Family Support Center should be one of your first stops once you arrive at a new installation to connect with key programs, services and support systems.

The Army Community Service staff at U.S. Army Garrison Benelux-Brussels is available to offer advocacy and support to families of deployed service members. Two webcams are set up in the Soldier For Life lounge Room 324, Building 4, USAG Benelux-Brussels for families to speak to their loved ones down-range. The webcam computers are also available for general family support and are accessible during ACS open hours Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and after duty hours by appointment for families in the deployment cycle.
In addition to ACS staff, a Military Family Life Consultant serves the Brussels community and is always available to provide support and a listening ear to those in need of a helping professional. The MFLC can be reached at 011-32-0-497-653-738.
Relocation Readiness provides resources and tools to help you with permanent change of station and post-move orientations. These orientations include the deputy garrison manager's USAG Benelux-Brussels site brief, a guided tour of a local hospital and of a local grocery store, information about local customs and culture, and helpful basic phrases and vocabulary in French and/or Flemish. We maintain a Loan Closet from which families may borrow basic household goods as well as a microwave.
Financial Readiness offers classes on move-related topics such as buying or selling homes.
Army Volunteer Corp
Because employment opportunities in Belgium are limited, volunteering is a way of gaining skills and work experience, which can be used in employment and college applications. It is important to document your volunteer hours. There are many and varied volunteer opportunities in the Brussels community. The Transition Assistance Program
The Transition Assistance Program offers a quarterly Veterans Administration benefits briefings and Soldiers for Life and Department of Labor Employment Workshop briefings. To register or for more information, call DSN 597-9634. Note: We do not have a Transition Assistance Center.
