With certain military moves, you may find yourself looking for housing that’s a little less permanent before making long-term arrangements. There are several temporary housing options that may be right for you. Explore the information about temporary housing facilities including allowances, lodging rates and eligibility.
Temporary Lodging Allowance
TLA is an allowance that is approved by HSO, and processed by finance. TLA is designed to offset the cost incurred by soldiers and their family members when it is necessary to occupy temporary lodging because of a PCS move. Personnel must receive prior approval from the HSO before occupying temporary lodging. Service members and their families are authorized at 10-day increments up to 60 days TLA upon arrival to USAG Yongsan-Casey. Departing service members residing on post are authorized Three days with those residing off-post given 10 days of TLA. Service members residing in barracks on USAG Yongsan-Casey are not authorized TLA.
If you are on a command-sponsored tour to South Korea and assigned to USAG Yongsan, at your earliest availability, please contact the Dragon Hill Lodge to make a reservation, DSN 738-2222. In our community, you could be in temporary lodging for up to 60 days.
TLA is calculated according to a formula that factors in the Military member's pay grade, number of Family members, actual quarters cost, the availability of cooking facilities and the local per diem rate. TLA starts the same date as the member's overseas housing allowance.
How do we pay for all our travel?
If your family needs financial assistance to help pay for travel expenses before your Soldier is reimbursed, check out these options:
Government Travel Charge Card (GTCC)
All Soldiers on official government travel will be issued a GTCC through their losing unit for permissible expenses (see Appendix G of JTR Manual) while on official travel orders. GTCCs may not be used while on leave status.
Base Pay Advance
Review all options before taking a PCS pay advance. Within 60 days of arrival, Soldiers may qualify for an advance of up to 1 month of disposable pay (after allotments, taxes, and deductions). This must be paid back within 12 months.
If you have specific questions concerning housing services at USAG Yongsan - Casey, contact your unit sponsor.
