When you arrive at your new installation, you’ll need to follow installation-specific procedures. Each installation and service handles in-processing differently. Here, you can find installation-specific guidelines and a list of documents to bring with you when checking- in. Reach out to the contacts provided if you have specific questions.
If you arrive at the Yokota Passenger Terminal via the Patriot Express you will still be required to clear customs. For more information, please access the Yokota Air Base Passenger Terminal website. Please also coordinate closely with your sponsor and unit to ensure they are aware of your arrival.
If you arrive at Narita or Haneda International Airport you will be required to clear customs, claim your luggage and travel to Yokota AB on a shuttle bus operated by 374 Force Support Squadron Vehicle Operations. You may access more shuttle bus information online. Please coordinate closely with your sponsor if arriving at Narita or Haneda to ensure your sponsor and your gaining unit is aware of your arrival at Yokota Air Base.
Newcomers Orientation
Newcomer's Orientation provides base in-processing, mandatory briefings and community resource information for joint-service military members and civilian employees. Spouses are encouraged to attend and children are welcome to accompany parents as well.
Newcomer's Orientation is held at the Military and Family Readiness Center in Building 535 next to the Yokota Base Exchange (BX). Reporting time will be provided during registration. Please register for Newcomer's Orientation by calling DSN 315-225-8725 or emailing 374fssfsfr@us.af.mil.
Parents may seek childcare for permanent change of station. Inquire about the 20-hours of free child care (per child) sponsored by the Air Force Aid Society (AFAS) for Air Force personnel. Visit the AFAS's website for additional information and contact the Military and Family Readiness Center to start the process.
Drivers Course
The drivers course is held in conjunction with Newcomer's Orientation every Wednesday at the Military and Family Readiness Center Building 535 next to the Base Exchange (BX). Registration is required for this event. Unit Commander Support Staff or sponsor must bring 374AW Form 50 in person to Pass & Registration, Building 993 to register for the course or send it via email at 374sfs.s5p@us.af.mil. Please contact Pass & Registration by calling DSN 315-225-8333 for additional information. Registration for the driver's course must be completed at least 2 days prior to attending the class.
First Term Airmen and First Term Officer
Prior to your arrival to Japan you will be assigned a sponsor. Please contact your unit if you have not been contacted by your sponsor. If you are accompanied you will be given on base-housing. Depending on the wait times which fluctuates by season you may be staying at the Kanto Lodge DSN 315-224-2002 or the TLF until housing becomes available. There are mandatory briefs for both First Term Airman and Officers.
Temporary Lodging Reservations
New arrivals will be checked-in to the Kanto Lodge, one of Pacific Air Force's largest hotel operations. For more information visit the Kanto Lodge website. Families with dependent children or pets may be housed at additional lodging facilities on the East Side of Yokota AB. The Kanto Lodge is a 24 hour operation and can be reached at DSN 315-224-2000/2002.
Please note that when possible, accompanied members may go directly into their housing units.
Command Sponsorship
Family members not command sponsored will not be eligible for military benefits at Yokota AB. Please check with your local Military Personnel Flight or visit the 374 FSS/MPF website for additional information.
Concurrent Travel
Yokota is an accompanied tour area with concurrent travel of dependents authorized. Please check your PCS orders and contact your current Military Personnel Flight or Human Resources department if you have any questions.
If you get married prior to or enroute to Yokota Air Base you must inform your losing-unit commander and gaining-unit commander. The military will not pay for travel and housing of your spouse if they are not on your orders and you do not follow proper procedures.
