Accompanied/Unaccompanied Members Household Goods Shipments to Yokota
Refer to the Air Force Housing website.
Accompanied/Unaccompanied Members Government Housing on Yokota
All members are required to report to the Military Housing Office no later than 48 hours, or two business days, after arrival. This visit is necessary to obtain housing, verify your eligibility for Temporary Lodging Allowance, and receive counseling and guidance before entering into any written lease or rental/sales contract for housing. It is advised to wait until you arrive to secure housing in order to tour available units. Reference current housing information on the Air Force Housing website.
Additional Housing Guidance
When shipping household goods, although members may be authorized to ship their full weight allowance in accordance with the Joint Federal Travel Regulations, this DOES NOT indicate that members must ship their full weight. Housing in Japan is smaller than homes in CONUS and commercial storage is almost non-existent, the US Government will not ship excess property that will not fit into family housing or unaccompanied housing back to CONUS for permanent storage during the overseas tour. We recommend you use your non-temporary storage entitlement during your Permanent Change of Station to Yokota AB. If you have any questions or require additional support, please contact the Military Housing Office by phone, or if calling from a US number dial 81-425-52-2510 after second dial tone enter 53252, or send an e-mail.
As soon as you receive your permanent change of station orders, it’s important to begin scheduling your move. The Defense Personal Property System, or DPS, is the online system you can use to request and manage your household goods shipment(s). To schedule your move, log in to DPS using a common access card, or CAC, or by obtaining a user ID and password through the DPS online system.
