Deployment can be a challenging phase of the military lifecycle, but it’s important to know that you don’t have to go through it alone. The military provides a variety of resources and support programs — ranging from educational briefings to morale calls — for your loved ones, children and service members to ease the stress of deployment. Military members may be assigned to a specific installation but support may come from local communities, Yellow Ribbon events or the installation itself.
The Military Family Life Counselor program is sponsored by the Department of Defense. Military Family Life Counselors are licensed professional counselors who provide confidential one-on-one or family counseling sessions at no charge. They will address concerns about work-related stress, deployment issues, relationships, anger management, parenting, transitions, combat stress and more. For more information call the Military and Family Readiness Center at DSN 315-225-8725 or the MFLC's directly 080-6485-5434, 080-6485-5411 or 080-6485-5426. There are currently three adult MFLC's assigned to Yokota Air Base.
The Family Readiness Program assists with all stages of deployment, mobilization, separation, local or national emergencies, disasters and evacuations. The program manager provides information, education, and guidance aimed at optimally preparing military members and their families for deployments, remote tours and extended temporary duty assignments. Activities include pre-deployment briefings, support group information, noncombatant evacuation operations information and training for units, and programs offered to assist families while their loved ones are away.
Briefings are held every 2nd Monday of the month (if it falls during a holiday or family day, it will be moved to the following Monday) at the Military and Family Readiness Center. Call DSN 315-225-8725 or commercial 042-552-2510 ext. 5-8725 to register for an appointment. Briefings are mandatory for all military personnel deploying out of Yokota Air Base.
Briefings provide an overview of deployment cycles, resources for military members and dependents, financial readiness overview and resiliency training. Spouses are highly encouraged to attend pre-deployment briefings.
There are several resources to make a deployed member's reunion a successful and joyous one. Please see the following resources for further information.
Reintegration Briefing is by appointment only. Call DSN 315-225-8725 to schedule an appointment.
Returning-Home Child Care
Active-duty members returning from deployment are eligible for 16-hours of childcare through the Family Child Care Center. Coordinate with a provider before coming by the Family Child Care Office (FCC) in Building 3015. Copy of deployment orders, completed Air Force Family Child Care Expanded Child Care form (AF FCC ECC), and immunization records for all children are required. Please call the FCC Office at DSN 315-225-8810 for commercial 042-552-2510 ext. 5-8810, for more information. Please utilize the Chaplains, the Military and Family Life Counseling, and the professionals at the Mental Health Clinic or Military OneSource at 800-342-9647 should you need someone to talk to. If you are overseas, call 800-342-9647 or 703-253-7599.
Emergency Evacuation Packets
All 374th Airlift Wing Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) personnel are required to establish and maintain an Emergency Evacuation Program (EEP) packet and kit (per household). These items are essential to ensure readiness for potential disasters. Each unit has a coordinator assigned who will assist all members in putting together their folders and kits. The EEP/NEO coordinators will inspect unit personnel's EEP packet within 60 days of the member's arrival.
The disaster preparedness program is a commander's program, but it is the individual member's responsibility to ensure their EEP packet and kit are always current and ready. Prior to deployment, members must ensure all information in the family's EEP packet is current.
