If you need emergency assistance, you can expect to get help from your installation, your branch of service resources. There are programs to support you in a variety of situations, including victim assistance, emergencies en route and service-specific relief societies. Below, you’ll find types of assistance, contact information, and detailed procedures and guidance to help you through any tough circumstances that you or your family may face.
The Service to the Armed Forces mission is to provide care and comfort to the service members of the United States Armed Forces and their families. The SAF team supports military families during deployments and emergencies, serves in military and veterans' hospitals, conducts emergency communications and continues supporting our nation's veterans after their service ends. The team also adapts services and creates new programs to meet the needs of today's service members, veterans and their families.
The American Red Cross supports service members, their families, military retirees and Department of War civilians overseas anywhere.

Army Emergency Relief is available to active and retired soldiers and their dependent family members. AER can provide emergency financial assistance to meet unforeseen needs. Categories of assistance may include but not limited to essential travel expenses, auto maintenance and repair, utilities, food, gasoline, rent, mortgage, etc.
Applicants may apply on the AER website by clicking on "Apply for Assistance".
Before you leave, make sure you have all important papers with you. Do not pack important documents with your household goods. Make sure you have important numbers such as the Emergency Operations Center at 803-751-5166/3983 or DSN 312-734-5166/3983, and, if possible your sponsor's contact information.
