If you need emergency assistance, you can expect to get help from your installation, your branch of service resources. There are programs to support you in a variety of situations, including victim assistance, emergencies en route and service-specific relief societies. Army Emergency Relief (AER) can provide financial assistance to meet unforseen required travel and related maintenance expenses such as transportation, lodging or food when applicable due to extraordinary costs involved with permanent change of station(PCS).
Before you leave, make sure you have all important papers with you, do not pack important documents with your household goods. Make sure you have important numbers such as the Emergency Operations Center, 803-751-5166/3983 or DSN 312-734-5166/3983 and, if possible your sponsor's contact information.
