Relocation Assistance

Your Military and Family Support Center provides relocation assistance to help make PCS moves as smooth as possible. Resources include:

• PCS planning: Most relocation assistance programs offer consultations to help you with the moving process. If this your first military move, your first time moving overseas or you have challenging or complex circumstances contact your installation Relocation Assistance Program as soon as possible for support.
• Plan My Move: An online Defense Department relocation tool that provides you with customizable checklists and links to helpful resources for the tasks ahead.
• Military OneSource: A website and call center that offer 24/7 support for moving information and resources. • Workshops and briefings: Workshops vary by location. You may find classes on housing options, moving with children, moving with pets and more.
• Predeparture briefings: These sessions provide essential information about your move and may be required for some populations.
• Special needs: If you have a child or family member enrolled in the Exceptional Family Member Program, contact your installation EFMP-Family Support office to assist you.
• Settling-in services: Look for welcome programs or local area tours that may offered. Overseas services may include introductory language classes and cultural awareness activities.
• Foreign-born spouse support: Assistance includes information and referral to resources such as immigration and naturalization.
• Emergency assistance: Sometime emergencies occur while moving. The Military and Family Support Center has the resources to provide emergency financial assistance, as well as information and referrals.
• Authorized housing flexibility options: Eligible service members with PCS orders may be entitled to flexibilities such as extended stays in government housing and early housing eligibility. Contact your military personnel office for more information.
• Spouse licensure reimbursement: Your service branch may reimburse spouses up to $1,000 for relicensure and certification costs resulting from relocations or PCS moves. Installation Specific Information

The staff of the Luke Military and Family Readiness Center provides comprehensive relocation services and can be contacted at 623-856-6550 and DSN 312-896-6550. If you don't know who to call, call us. We're never the wrong place to go or call!

The Luke M&FRC provides a newcomer’s briefing, or Wing Orientation, once a month, providing a warm welcome for new arrivals and an orientation to the local area and issues. The M&FRC also hosts Heart Link (and open to newly arriving spouses) is an interactive and fun spouse orientation. M&FRC has additional information on local community. The M&FRC offers a Loan Closet, consisting of tables, chairs and dish packs, service members can borrow until incoming personal household shipments arrive.

Sponsorship Program: When a unit receives notification of your assignment, your sponsor will initiate personal contact with you to learn of specific concerns you and your family may have. The unit may include specific job-related information such as a letter from your commander, first sergeant, supervisor and/or sponsor. The sponsor can customize a package for you, based on your specific needs. MilitaryOneSource is an excellent resource for PCS moves and information of base agencies and services.

Wing Orientation: A mandatory appointment, Wing Orientation includes a commander's welcome brief and community fair. This briefing is offered monthly to introduce newcomers to the services and facilities available at Luke Air Force Base. Refreshments are served and spouses are encouraged to attend.

Child care for permanent change of station: Sponsored by the Air Force Aid Society, this program offers relocating families 20 hours of free child care per child within 60 days of a permanent change of station. Come to M&FRC to get the voucher.

Spouse Connect: The Heart Link program is a 4-hour spouse orientation and introduction to the Air Force and Luke AFB. This is also available to newly arriving spouses as well. This includes a free lunch. This is also a great opportunity to meet new people and talk to different base agencies.
