Installation Specific Information
The staff of the Luke Airman and Family Readiness Center provides comprehensive relocation services and can be contacted at 623-856-6550 and DSN 312-896-6550. Two of the most important services offered at the LA&FRC are information and referral. If you don't know who to call, call us. We're never the wrong place to go or call!
The LA&FRC provides a newcomer’s briefing, or Wing Orientation, once a month and participates in the First Term Airmen Center briefings. These two briefings provide a warm welcome for new arrivals and an orientation to the local area and issues. The LA&FRC also hosts Heart Link (and open to newly arriving spouses) is an interactive and fun spouse orientation. Information on the local community, crime statistics, automobile insurance and more are available upon request at the LA&FRC. The LA&FRC offers a comprehensive Loan Closet wherein members can borrow common household items until incoming personal household shipments arrive.
Sponsorship Program: When a unit receives notification of your assignment, your sponsor will initiate personal contact with you to learn of specific concerns you and your family may have. The unit may include specific job-related information such as a letter from your commander, first sergeant, supervisor and/or sponsor. The sponsor can customize a package for you using the resources at the LA&FRC. This package could include information about the areas you requested as well as base and local community information. MilitaryOneSource is an excellent resource for PCS moves and information of base agencies and services.
Wing Orientation: A mandatory appointment, Wing Orientation includes a commander's welcome brief and community fair. This briefing is offered monthly to introduce newcomers to the services and facilities available at Luke Air Force Base. Refreshments are served and spouses are encouraged to attend.
Child care for permanent change of station: Sponsored by the Air Force Aid Society, this program offers relocating families 20 hours of free child care per child within 60 days of a permanent change of station. Child care is authorized for both inbound and outbound families and, due to the shortage of Family Child Care providers, families are authorized to use the Child Development Center or School Age Program for their child care needs.
Loan Closet: The Loan Closet is located in Building 1113. You can call the LA&FRC at 623-856-6550 and someone will assist you. Loan Closet items include dish kits, microwaves and small appliances.
Thrift Store: Luke AFB has a thrift store open on Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. They are also open the first Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, call 623-856-6415.
Heart Link: The Heart Link program is a 4-hour spouse orientation and introduction to the Air Force and Luke AFB. This is also available to newly arriving spouses as well. This includes a free lunch and free child care. This is also a great opportunity to meet new people and talk to different base agencies.
Layette Program: A layette of baby items are provided within 5 weeks of birth for newborn children of active-duty E-5 individuals and below assigned or attached to Luke AFB. Visit the LA&FRC to pick up a layette.
Plan My Move: Departing service members will be emailed necessary information from Traffic Management Office, legal, finance/travel pay, TRICARE, outbound assignments and medical documents from the Exceptional Family Member Program.
