A wide range of programs are available for youth and teens, including youth sports and recreation programs, educational programs and programs that support leadership and career development. Please review the information to learn what programs and services are available at this installation.
The Maxwell and Gunter Youth Activity Centers are divided into three major components: before and after school care, youth sports, and open recreation. For additional information and pictures on programs and services please see the 42 FSS Website.
Before and After School Care
Before and After School Program is Monday through Friday beginning at 6:30 a.m. for children ages 5 -12.
Youth Sports
Youth Sports include flag football, soccer, basketball, baseball, and swimming. Classes offered include: piano, dance, tumbling, tap, ballet, jazz and karate and swim lessons.
Open Recreation
Open Recreation allows children to be a part of such groups as the fitness club, torch club and keystone club, and it also teaches children life skills such as cooking. Annual membership for open recreation is required $150.00 and children must be at least 9 years old to participate.
Pen Pal Program
The Maxwell Youth Center also operates a Pen Pal Program for incoming teens. If you are interested in making contact with a teen your age, please contact the Maxwell Youth Center or the Gunter Youth Center, 334-953-6292 or the Gunter Youth Center, 334-416-1427.
Youth Center Sponsorship Program
This program matches youth ages 9-18 coming to Maxwell AFB-Gunter Annex with volunteer sponsors their own age. This will enable them to become familiar with the base and the surrounding area. We also work with children departing Maxwell AFB-Gunter Annex for other bases. If you are leaving Maxwell AFB-Gunter Annex, we make every effort to contact your receiving base and get you a sponsor there.
