When you arrive at your new installation, you’ll need to follow installation-specific procedures. Each installation and service handles in-processing differently. Here, you can find installation-specific guidelines and a list of documents to bring with you when checking- in. Reach out to the contacts provided if you have specific questions.
Prior to your arrival, you're invited to tune in to McConnell AFB's Pre-Arrival Orientation. This is a virtual class offered every other month which includes subject matter experts from the Military Housing Office, Temporary Lodging, Child & Youth Services, School Liaison Office, the Exceptional Family Member Program, Tricare, Military & Family Readiness Center and more. As you prepare to make your way to McConnell, be sure to let your sponsor know about your travel plans and estimated arrival time. New Team McConnell members should report to their unit Command Support Staff upon arrival or no later than the morning of the first official duty day. Members must be in uniform. Your CSS will schedule you for Right Start (base newcomers orientation) and provide you with additional in-processing information and tasks. First-term airmen will be scheduled for the mandatory First-Term Airman Center class. Spouses are invited to attend Right Start as well and can sign up by calling the M&FRC at 316-759-6020 or DSN: 312-743-6020.
If you arrive after normal duty hours, make sure you have your sponsor's contact information for assistance if needed. The Air Capital Inn is located at 5305 Glen Elder, Building 196. They are open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and can be reached at 316-759-6999 or DSN: 312-743-6999 for reservations.
The Air Capital Inn handles temporary lodging needs for McConnell Air Force Base. Lodging is open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and consists of Visiting Quarters, Distinguished Visitor Quarters, and Temporary Lodging Facilities. You can make a reservation as soon as you receive your PCS orders. Pet-friendly rooms are available for an extra $10 per night as long as you can provide shot records. Be sure to call the lodging office directly for up-to-date information on accommodating your pets (316-759-6999 or DSN 312-743-6999).
Reservations can be made for up to 10 days if you are coming from another CONUS base, or for 30 days if you are coming from OCONUS. Your sponsor can also make your reservations for you with a copy of your orders. PCS outgoing military can make reservations for up to 10 days if space is available.
