McConnell AFB Veterinary Clinic:
Hours of Operation:
The veterinary profession is moving from annual vaccination-driven appointments toward wellness-oriented veterinary care. The intent is to de-emphasize vaccinations as the sole reason for a visit to the veterinarian and emphasize routine wellness examinations by a veterinary health care professional. VETSVCS will embrace this effort through a command-wide philosophy of disease prevention, early diagnosis, and high quality treatment of health issues.
We will use the annual wellness screening to vaccinate at the appropriate frequency to prevent disease based on the patient’s potential exposure, improve human health by proactively preventing zoonotic disease, and provide regular client-patient-veterinary health care professional interaction. Wellness packages have been carefully researched and formulated by a Veterinary Medical Standardization Board to provide the best medicine possible. Should you elect to decline any portion of the wellness package, please inform the staff and we will accommodate.
Services offered: Vaccinations, state-to-state health certificates, microchips, heartworm testing, and minor acute care. (Call for cost information).
All pets must be on a leash or in a pet carrier when coming into the veterinary clinic.
REMINDER: You need to have your pet registered within five working days of moving into base housing. Please email the Vet Clinic with proof of an up-to-date Rabies vaccine and microchip number for your pet. If your pet does not have these, arrangements should be made to get them done at the clinic or at an off base provider of your choice.
Adult Dog Visit: $140
Adult Cat Visit: $85
All services will require a wellness exam fee or a wellness screening fee. In addition, all transactions will be charged a $2 user fee by Congressional Law. All prices are subject to change without notice.
Traveling with a pet often requires the same care and attention that you put into making your own travel plans. Most states and countries require recent health certificates and disease inoculation documentation. Kansas requires that all dogs and cats be accompanied by a completed Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI, health certificate) signed by an accredited veterinarian. The CVI must have been issued within 30 days prior to the animal's arrival in Kansas.
Air travel for pets is regulated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Visit their website for information on bringing your pets to other states and other countries. Airlines establish their own policies to transport pets in addition to the requirements of the federal, state, and local governments. Check with your airline for up-to-date requirements, as they are subject to change. Tips for traveling safely with your pets by car, airplane, ship or train can be found here.
Contact the McConnell AFB Veterinary Clinic if you are traveling with your pet so they can discuss health certificates and anything else that is needed to prepare them for travel.
As of January 1, 2024, military service members going through a PCS within the continental United States can be reimbursed up to $550 for one household pet, either cat or dog, and up to $2000 for moves to or from a location outside the continental United States to cover costs related to the transportation of a pet.
