If you’ve ever considered taking your education a step further, you should look to your installation for more information and assistance. They can help you decide if receiving an advanced degree is right for you, tell you which local colleges and classes are offered and find out if you’re eligible for tuition assistance. The Voluntary Education Center, or Installation Education Center, is available to help you put together a plan to advance your education.
Military spouses can also choose to engage with an education and career coach through the DoD’s Spouse Education and Career Opportunities program, or SECO. These coaches can assist them in exploring multiple tools, resources and information to reach their educational goals. Educational opportunities on McConnell include classes through Butler Community College, Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, and Wichita State University.
The Military Tuition Assistance (MilTA) Program provides financial assistance for voluntary off-duty education programs in support of an Airman and Guardian's professional and personal self-development goals. MilTA is authorized under U.S.C. 10, Section 2007, and implemented by Department of Defense Instruction 1322.25, Voluntary Education Programs. All service members (officers, enlisted) on active duty, Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve on active duty (pursuant to U.S. Code Title 10 or Title 32), are authorized to participate in the MilTA program.
The Air Force currently pays 100% of tuition, up to $250 per semester hour and $166 quarter hour ($4,500 per fiscal year), in off-duty courses with accredited schools who have signed the Department of Defense Memorandum of Understanding in pursuit of approved degree programs.
