When you arrive at your new installation, you’ll need to follow installation-specific procedures. Each installation and service handles in-processing differently. Here, you can find installation-specific guidelines and a list of documents to bring with you when checking- in. Reach out to the contacts provided if you have specific questions.
Before arriving in Barstow, contact the Uniformed Readiness Coordinator to learn more about the base and community. Call Information, Referral and Relocation for the current point of contact at 760-577-6675. Sponsorship can be arranged by calling 760-577-6663. Information and Referral can be reached at 760-577-6675. A Lending locker is available while you wait for your household items to arrive at 760-577-6675. Send a housing application (with a copy of your orders) as soon as PCS orders are received. The sooner coordination is made with the housing office, the better the chance for assignment upon arrival. If not able to move into housing right away, the housing office can assist with off base referrals. MCLB Barstow also offers for a nominal cost lodging at the Temporary Lodging Facility (TLF) located on the installation. To make your reservation, contact the TLF at 760-577-6418. If you have any questions contact your sponsor and/or the Personnel Officer at DSN 312-282-6086 or 760-577-6086 or 760-577-6663. Ensure you or your sponsor make reservations for temporary lodging prior to your arrival. For access to basic housewares, a lending locker is available through Information, Referral & Relocation, located at Bldg. 126. (760) 577-6675. Contact your unit for any possible quarantine requirements.
Contact your unit before arrival for any required quarantine protocols applicable to check-in. Your sponsor at MCLB Barstow will arrange to meet you on the first official day, and walk you through the check-in process. Your first stop on your official check-in day will be the Military Personnel Office located in Building 15 (760) 577-6663 or After receiving your reporting endorsement and check-in sheet, you can then proceed to check in to the other sections. Be sure to check-in with the Uniformed Readiness Coordinator as well. Register for a Welcome Aboard brief with I&R/Relocation at Bldg. 126 or call (760) 577-6675. The uniform for all Marines reporting for duty is the Service Alphas. If arriving after normal duty hours, report to the Command Duty Officer, Building 15.

Enroll new dependents as soon as possible with your gaining command. Update your family care plan and Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System account information. The military will not pay for travel and housing of your new spouse if you do not follow proper procedures or are married after your departure date. If you get married before your permanent change of station, you must inform your commander and follow the procedures to add your spouse as a dependent. To qualify for the PCS financial benefits that are entitled to married service members, dependent information must be included on the personal interview on move.mil and Marine Online.
