Housing options are available to your unique situation including: housing for families, single service members, families that are enrolled in the exceptional family member program, pet owners and unaccompanied personnel. Currently, there are 74 government quarters for families aboard the base. There are two main areas – Desert View and Quarters Street. All qualifying personnel arriving at Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow for permanent duty should report to the family housing office in the community center, Building 363. The housing office numbers are 760-577-6872 or DSN 312-577-6872.
Housing Referral Office
MCLB Barstow Housing Office can assist with off base housing referrals, and review & advise on lease contracts before signing. Located at Building. 363 Cape Gloucester Rd. 760-577-6872 or 760-577-6707.
Home.mil is an online resource for vetted off-base housing options.
The Fort Irwin housing referral office can also assist with tenant-landlord disputes, as well as any questions or problems about off-base housing. The Fort Irwin HRO will provide you with a list of rentals with corresponding locator maps and give you information about the communities in which the rentals are located. The office can be reached by calling 760-380-3576.
It may seem affordable to purchase a home in Barstow but it may be difficult to sell due to the rural location and poor economy.
Application procedures
All applications can be emailed or faxed to the housing office before your permanent change of station. Include a copy of your orders showing your detachment date. The family housing office is located inside Building 363. Call 760-577-6872 for more information.
The housing application, DD Form 1746, is available online.
Bachelor housing is available to single active duty service members and geographical bachelors. All bachelors housing is controlled by the commands. You will be assigned to bachelor housing when you check in to your new unit. You can also check with the housing office for more information. Bldg. 363 760-577-6872
Service members enrolled in the Exceptional Family Member Program requesting priority housing are encouraged to contact the base housing office at least 60-90 days before checking into Marine Corps Logistic Base Barstow. Please specify any special housing needs during the application process under remarks.

MCLB Barstow does not have a mobile home park; however, there are 25 RV spaces available at the Oasis Temporary Lodging Facility for any size full hookup, with CATV available for long term.

Unfurnished apartments and homes are available in the Barstow area. The surrounding towns/cities, such as Silver Lakes, Apple Valley, Victorville, Adelanto, and Hesperia, which are anywhere from 15 to 50 miles south of Barstow, may be more expensive but will have more selection options. If your household goods haven't arrived yet, save your money and pick up a Lending Locker Kit from the Relocation Assistance Program office located at Bldg. 126 on James L. Day St. (Club St.) 760-577-6675. Kits are equipped with kitchen essentials. Other Loan Locker items such as microwaves, vacuums, highchairs, boosters, or tables and chairs, may also be available.
