Legal Assistance

Naval Legal Service Office Central provides a wide range of legal services to Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard service members and their families located throughout the southern United States and seven Central American countries. Spouses of active-duty service members who are under instruction must be accompanied by the active-duty service member for legal assistance.

War Department

The War Department provides military justice advice to individuals including:

• NJP (mast) and administrative discharge advice
• Assigns qualified attorneys to defend accused individuals before general and special courts-martial
• Provides attorneys to represent respondents at administrative discharge boards
• Legal assistance

Legal Assistance

Legal Assistance provides advice, and in some cases, preparation and execution of documents on legal matters of a purely personal nature.

Some of the areas in which the Legal Assistance Department will provide help include:

• Preparation of wills
• Landlord and tenant disputes
• Domestic relation problems
• Debtor and creditor rights
• Tax advice
• Power of attorney
• In Locus Parentis
• Guardianship
• Expanded Legal Assistance Program

The Legal Assistance Office also provides services in accordance with the Expanded Legal Assistance Program. ELAP provides active-duty service members (E-3 and below, E-4 and below with dependents) with in-court representation for minor criminal charges in the civilian sector. Legal Assistance is available, free of charge, on an appointment basis to all military personnel, active and retired, and their family members. Powers of attorney and notary services are provided on a walk-in basis.

Household Claims Service - Personal Property Office

Claims for household goods are not processed at Naval Air Station Pensacola Regional Legal Office. You must go through your carrier within 75 days from date of delivery.

The Navy Legal Service Office takes walk-ins on Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Personnel can call for an appointment Monday through Friday.
