Eligibility
All officers and enlisted personnel assigned to the NBVC area and accompanied by their bona fide family members are eligible to apply for Military Family Housing. Waiting lists are established by bedroom category within each grade designation. Bedroom eligibility is based on family composition.
Application
Application packages can be made in person, by email, by fax or mailed to:
Naval Base Ventura County311 Main Road Suite 1CODE CBC HGPoint Mugu, CA 93042-5001
A copy of your orders bringing you to NBVC, a copy of your dependency data sheet (page 2) and a detaching endorsement showing loss from your current command, a history of assignments showing loss from your current command or a stamped set of orders showing a loss date will suffice. Please remember: We cannot put you on the active waitlist until you are detached from your previous command before arriving here at NBVC.
Personnel who apply for MFH will receive a written acknowledgement indicating the approximate waiting period for quarters. The waiting times quoted are approximate times only and fluctuate monthly.
In accordance with Office of the Chief of Naval Operations Instruction housing regulations, you or a member of your immediate family must confirm an advance quarters application within 30 days of reporting for duty in the Ventura County area. Failure to confirm will result in the cancellation of your application.
All applicants are required to update their application every six months after the application control date and for six months thereafter, until housed. Failure to renew your application will result in cancellation of your application. It is recommended that you or your spouse periodically check with the Family Housing Office regarding the status of your application. It is your responsibility to keep the FHO informed of any change of status affecting your application or if you no longer desire quarters.
Assignment to Housing
The Secretary of the Navy has designated all Military Family Housing under the management control of the commander, Navy Region Southwest, as adequate public quarters. Basic Allowance for Housing is forfeited by personnel occupying this house.
Assignment for all categories will be made primarily on a first-come, first-served basis. When two or more applicants have the same rank and the same control date, the date of the rank of the applicant will govern.
You may place your name on the waiting list for one of four housing areas only: Camarillo, Point Mugu, or Port Hueneme. Applicants are given 30 days to change the area they have selected and retain their original control date. If you change your site on bedroom requirement after the 30-day period, your control date will be effective on the date of the change.
In all cases, service members must have six months of active duty to relocate to another housing unit.
Barracks are available to all single service members at both Point Mugu and Port Hueneme. Contact the Bachelor Officer Quarters (BOQ)/Bachelor Enlisted Quarters (BEQ) for reservation and application procedures at 805-989-0406 (Point Mugu) or 805-982-4551 (Port Hueneme).
