A wide range of programs are available for youth and teens, including youth sports and recreation programs, educational programs and programs that support leadership and career development. Please review the information to learn what programs and services are available at this installation.
The Youth Activities Center offers a variety of programs and events:
School-Age Care - programs are age-appropriate childcare services for youth kindergarten to 12 years old and enrolled in elementary school including before and after-school care. These educational and recreational programs include arts and crafts, group games, field trips, guest speakers, special projects, volunteer projects, and special events. Summer camp is also held throughout the summer for children ages 5-12. Children will enjoy a variety of activities and fields trips such as water parks, museums, and the Zoo.
Youth Recreation - The program is available Thursday through Saturday for youth enrolled in kindergarten to 12 years old. The Youth Activities Center also is open for special events including dances and pool parties, field trips and lock-ins.
The MWR Youth Program also sponsors and co-sponsors various special events throughout the year that provide the base community with entertaining events that enhance their family's quality of life. Events include holiday carnivals, a base-wide Easter egg hunt, a holiday tree-lighting ceremony, the Month of the Military Child Celebration and Seabee Day.
The Youth Activities Center also runs 4H programs and is an affiliate member of the National Boys & Girls Club of America. Children enrolled in the School-Age Care and Recreation Program will be able to participate in five core program areas: character and leadership development, education and career development, health and life skills, the arts, sports, and fitness and recreation.

Family members, including youth, are welcome in the Fleet and Family Support Center for assistance with resume writing, interviewing skills and job search. Call 228-871-3000 for more information on Family Employment & Readiness Program.
Teen Center – Available Monday through Friday for teens ages 13 – 18 who are enrolled in the program. The Teen program offers many activities like archery, leadership classes and opportunities, and a variety of field trips. We have different activities every day and take field trips to places like the Zoo, Water Parks, Museums, and a number of other interesting and fun places.
Programs Offered:
Teen Only Goals for Graduation- a homework help and tutoring program.
Keystone Teen Only Club- a program for teens, run by teens! Learn communication, team, and leadership skills. Pursuits include camping, rock climbing, paintball, and other high adventure activities.
Career Launch- This fun and exciting program prepares teens for the working world. Teens embark on a journey to explore careers and find success in the world of work.
Youth of the Year Award- This outstanding award program offers youth a chance to represent the Naval Construction Battalion Center at State, Regional, and National levels.
The Work and Family Life Consultant will provide relocation information and workshops to assist "Kids on the Move." Contact the Fleet and Family Support Center at 228-871-3000 for more information about this program. Many other programs and activities are provided through the Youth Center, call 228-871-2251.
Youth Activities - Registration is free, and a small fee is charged for field trips and snacks.
School Age Care - Fees are based upon yearly gross household income and change every October with newly mandated schedules.
