Loan Closet Overview

A loan closet is a program that allows service members, families and loved ones to borrow durable equipment or resources especially as they are awaiting their household good.  This  program varies by service so check out the below information to see what is offered at this installation.

The Fleet and Family Support Center Loan Locker is here to assist relocating members and their families. It typically offers basic kitchen essentials such as dish sets, pots, pans, and cooking utensils, along with items like irons, coffee pots, and toasters. Please note that furniture is not available for loan through the Loan Locker.

Purpose: To provide temporary household items (e.g., kitchenware) to military service members and families during their PCS transition.

Eligibility: Active-duty military members (E1-O6) and their dependents who have recently completed a PCS move.

The FFSC does not provide pillows, sheets, blankets, or inflatable mattresses on loan. Please plan to bring these items with you or make arrangements to have them while you wait for your household goods to arrive.

The Loan Locker is located in the Fleet and Family Support Center, 245 Moreell Ave. Facility 30 Gulfport, MS 39501. A copy of your PCS orders are needed to borrow items from the loan closet.

  1. Contact FFSC Loan Locker: o Call or visit the FFSC during business hours at 228-871-3000. o Provide PCS orders and military ID.
  2. Selection of Items: o Items include kitchenware, coffee maker, and iron only. o Available items are based on availability.
  3. Sign Loan Agreement: o Agreement includes:  Loan period (typically 30 days, extendable upon request).  Responsibility for item condition.
  4. Pick-Up & Inspection:
    1. Items are issued after agreement is signed.
    2. Inspect items for damage before taking possession. Any damage will be noted.
  5. Return Items:
    1. Return items on or before the due date, clean and in good condition.
    2. Items will be inspected upon return.

  • Can I borrow items before arrival? Yes, arrangements can be made prior to your arrival depending on the availability.
