Policies and rules for shipping pets vary at each installation. It’s important to understand the regulations, prohibitions and laws at your new installation before moving with a pet. Below, you’ll find installation-specific details for registering, boarding and transporting your pet.
NCBC has a leash law. All pets must be kept current with vaccinations, testing, and/or treatments. All dogs and cats must wear current rabies vaccination tags on their collar or harness.

Relocating with your pet during a permanent change of station move requires careful planning and preparation. Each duty station may have specific rules such as vaccination requirements, quarantine guidelines or breed restrictions.
The Naval Air Station Pensacola Veterinary Clinic is the closest military veterinary facility. You can call them at 850-505-6596 to schedule an appointment once you receive your orders. Their staff can assist with your questions and help ensure your pet is travel ready.
Pet owners are responsible for covering all transportation costs for their pets. Service members may qualify for reimbursement of up to $550 for PCS moves within the continental U.S. and up to $2,000 for moves to or from locations outside the U.S. This reimbursement can include expenses like shipping and quarantine fees related to pet transportation.

For overseas pet travel, they provide certified health certificates signed by a veterinarian accredited by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Applications for the certificate must be submitted at least 10 days before departure.

Remember, if needed, it is a good idea to make advanced reservations for pet boarding as soon as you know your arrival date. This is an area where your sponsor can be of great assistance. Also, if you and your pet plan to stay in a hotel, motel or inn, call in advance to check if pets are allowed prior to making reservations.

Base Housing Policies
Exotic pets are not allowed—only dogs, cats, birds, or fish are permitted. Base housing allows a maximum of two pets. Fish tanks and bird cages each count as one pet, with a limit of one fish tank and two bird cages. For breed or animal restrictions and any updates, please contact base housing at 228-871-2586.
