With certain military moves, you may find yourself looking for housing that’s a little less permanent before making long-term arrangements. There are several temporary housing options that may be right for you. Explore the information about temporary housing facilities including allowances, lodging rates and eligibility.
Make temporary lodging arrangements as far in advance of your arrival as possible. There is no guarantee that you will be offered a temporary living facility. TLF fills up quickly — especially during high permanent-change-of-station season. It is possible individuals and families may be required to stay off base during these times.
If you are issued a nonavailability letter, contact your sponsor for assistance in making a hotel reservation in the local area. The Lodging Reservations Office can also provide a list of recommended accommodations in the local area. The Britannia Inn is the lodging facility for the local community. It is located just inside the old gate of Royal Air Force Alconbury. Temporary lodging is available to all active-duty military members and Department of Defense civilians and their families. Lodging for other community personnel is available on a space-available basis.
Lodging has limited pet rooms. If you have a pet and these rooms are not available, check with your sponsor for pet sitting or kennel options in the local area.
Lodging reservations should be made by your sponsor. If your sponsor is not able to make reservations, contact the Britannia Inn directly for reservation procedures. Contact information is in the contacts category on this page. Personnel can reserve a room in advance as soon as they have a copy of their orders. Be sure to include orders, the date you will arrive and how long you anticipate you will need lodging. The maximum lodging can be reserved for is 30 days. Extensions can be approved based on circumstances. Advance reservations are a must. Staff is available 24/7. We are only open all week from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. (pending more staffing). There is a voicemail line for after-hours calls. A valid credit card will be required to hold your reservation.
